Avoid Excess Tea Intake

My grandkids gave me a very pretty, very expensive mug for Chirstmas a couple of years ago; microwave safe and all the rest of it. It holds one quart. I make it every day for breakfast and sometimes have two mugs around breakfast time. Sweetened with Sweet-n-Low, it sure doesn't have any laxative effect; quite the opposite. But if I go out pistol shooting in the morning, the front sight is dancing around so much I can barely see it. Have to try the decafeinaed stuff when I plan to go out to the range.

I have known a couple of people that have had serious gall-stone, kidney stone problems over the years. The one thing they had in common was they all drank alot of soda pop. It seemed I never saw one of my buddies where he didn't have a can of Pepsi in his hand...same with the others, one of my buddies drank a six pack of soda every night, he was big as a house also and his doc said that gall bladder surgery was usually fairly easy money for him but on ole Kenny it was major excavation.
 
To have a valid comparison, you'd have to know the dosing that the insects got. In humans, that would be something like Miiigrams/Kilogram of weight, or maybe Micrograms/Kilogram of weight.

Only then could we scale up the dosing to see how much sweetener it would take to kill a human.

Cause of death would also be a factor, actually a huge one.

You can kill an insect by drowning it in alcohol. You can kill a human by drowning HIM in alcohol too, but it would probably take a swimming pool full it and a person who couldn't swim.

Which I could buy into that theory, save that I have yet to see ant poison not marked as dangerous to humans. "Bad for them, good for you!"

Of course what we need are a couple of giant South Carolina cockroaches, the kind that had to be killed with golf clubs and could swim through roach spray. Feed some to one of them and see if it dies.
 
It is not the tea it is the artificial sweetener. Bad stuff.

Its the tea too. I drink roolboos SP? every now and then--no sweetner--and im in the restroom the rest of the evening. Im also sad to say--that milk does that to me now--along with severe cramps--and I love milk. If I eat any cereal? I have to eat it dry. :(
 
To me red rooibos tastes like a brew of lawn clippings.

I don't drink much tea, and when I do my tastes aren't expensive. Twining's Irish Breakfast (or their English Breakfast as a second choice), or the cheap Chinese Temple Of Heaven green tea.

Occasionally on a very cold, windy day I'll drink the Twining's brewed very strong and heavily sweetened. That's the only sweetened tea, hot or iced, that I drink.
 
I drink about a gallon of unsweetened tea a day and have every since I stopped drinking a gallon and a half of coffee a day. The coffee was starting to affect me. Though I've been told the tea I drink is on the strong side.

I'm in a similar boat. I used to drink 6-8 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper a day. That stuff is bad for you, so I've switched to 2-3 quarts of unsweet tea a day. I use the Luzianne cold brew tea bags, which are supposed to make a quart, but the Nalgene bottles I make it in only hold 22 ozs., so it's a little stronger than normal. Now tea is bad for you.

Of course, everything is bad for you. I eat eggs, bacon, and potatoes of some kind every morning. That will probably kill me in another 45 years or so. If not, maybe three or four ribeyes a month will.
 
I did Lipton and constant comment (orange) a long time then
learned about LongJing green tea, Ti Kuan yin and Jasmine tea
in the tea pot, done the old Chinese way.
Rinse, soak, remove tea leaves, store and reuse........
Many do not use the correct water temperature or over soak the leaves and get a bitter tasting tea.

I do tea 40% and coffee 60% in a months time.

I never have but, ive been thinking of trying some. Also,I saw they also had Soy milk--and id like trying that too. Forgot to mention,I cant drink the Vitamin D-milk--too heavy onmy stomach.The last I was drinking was that one percent stuff.

When I want hot tea--I only do twinings--nobody else comes close.I love: English Breakfast,Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey.

Bigalow tea is the worst ive ever had.

Unusual for me, but I put some almond milk my mother had over some cereal one morning. I didn't expect much but was surprised how well it went down. Drank some straight, it wasn't bad.
 
Back to the tea drinking danger.
True story, I had a friend of mine almost die from this combination. He was working very hard out in his yard on a hot summer day and kept asking his wife for more and more iced tea with lemon and was sweating profusely all the while. He collapsed and became unconscious and nearly died on the way to the hospital.
It turned out that the culprit was the lemon mostly but in combination with the tea caused his pores to collapse and close and then he had no way to sweat. Sweating keeps your temperature down, so I assume he became overheated. I'm not sure of all the medical reasons for that, but maybe someone more medically inclined here would contribute here.

I saw the story and because I drink a lot of tea tried to read it carefully. Nothing I read said whether or not it was Sweet tea or unsweetened. Most sweet tea is made far too sweet for me. One article mentioned he was pre-diabetic. Maybe other factors, but as usual the media blows the trumpet loudly without knowing all the facts. My old chemistry teacher had it right, "Everything is poison, it's the dosage that gets you."

It was unsweetened, which a doctor called "fortunate."

I do use normal sugar or occasionally honey, especially in herbal teas. But I don't drink any tea by the pitcher, let alone on a daily basis. I DO NOT use artificial sweeteners.

Try coffee instead!

As always, moderation usually is a good policy. Too much of anything is too much; tea being no exception.

...and there is pro and con on non-decaffeinated coffee, also. However, I just came across this link today that claims that regular coffee is VERY good for the brain in at least 5 ways. Seeing as how I drink 1 or 1 cups a day of the stuff (laced with Bailey's Irish Cream because I can't stand the taste of coffee), I was quite pleased. Here's the link for your edification.
