If by some miracle Feinsteins new AWB gets passed which I highly doubt, the most fun rifle S&W has ever produced will be banned. That is a scenario I can't imagine but then I never thought Obama would get reelected so you just never know. Let's see, the M&P15-22 has
1. A collapsible stock
2. A threaded muzzle in most cases
3. A pistol grip
4. And take a large capacity magazine
Our only hope is that cooler minds prevail and this latest AWB never sees the light of day. I'd really hate to have my favorite semi auto become an NFA weapon.

It's ok Mag, don't panic.. The pre-existing firearms will be "Grandfathered" you will just have to register with the BAFTE, take a Psych Eval and pay the $200 fee per firearm.

It will all be ok!!!!

In NY I can't have three out of four of those things anyway!

Thanks Brett I feel better now. Personally once this bill is written I don't think it will even make it out of commitee. January should be an interesting month, at least we have the Shot Show to look forward to.

Photo's and Fingerprints

Except now Feinstein wants photo's and fingerprints. Remember she became mayor of San Fran when the previous mayor was shot. If you want to look it up I think the shooter's name was White and he only got a couple years based on the twinky defense or something. I am not sure why she blamed guns and not the San Francisco culture that cranks out criminals faster than anyone can lock them up.
In California if you want someone convicted you try to get a change of venue to San Diego. If you want them released you try for a change of venue to Monterey or San Francisco.

everyone needs to be engaged on this at all levels...write your elected officials, join the NRA, and even if you are a life member or better already, send them $$$ for the legislative fight ahead...

feinstein is going for it all this time...

NRA-ILA | Feinstein Goes For Broke With New Gun-Ban Bill

not too sure about the legality of some of her inheritance issues though...

I read this morning that a stand alone magazine ban will be introduced on the 1'st day of the new Congress. Good way to start the year, the Senate can't pass a budget in 3 years but watch this pass quickly. Let's hope it never gets called up in the House, we'll soon see.

Hey, let's not forget- as is written, the Marlin model 60 and Ruger 10/22 fall squarely on that list.

The derp is so thick and strong in that woman, it defies all logic.

Just for the record there is also a fully functional and active Petition right now on the Whitehouse web site We The People, to Impeach Feinstein and to charge her with Treason against the Constitution of the United States. It's originator, a California Resident and it already has nearly 12K votes.

Likewise, the Petition to STOP any and all AWB bans, reached it's 30K Vote Limit. Of course we got a canned response back from the President about how he doesn't want to ban all guns but this "seriously needs to be looked at". No... It does NOT need to be looked at.

I am sick and tired of inanimate tools being blamed, not the criminals.

My post to Mag318 was tongue in cheek, we are certainly headed for a rough road ahead of us. I'm truly worried about what may happen.

you will never be able to legislate human behavior by regulating objects. and when any effort along this tact fails, those trying to do so this way will come back to the table with more of the same failed concept with the argument of "…well, we didn't go far enough, and we need more legislation..."

With respect to regulating guns for the purpose of regulating crime, just look to England and Austrailia for what this method ultimately leads to…

dick gregory waved around a banned 30 rd. magazine in a D.C. interview trying to bait La Pierre...the D.C. police are "investigating" if it was anyone else but a media elite, they would already be in jail.

to murder unarmed women and children lined up, or huddled in a small room, it didn't really matter if it was a 30 round magazine, or a 5 round magazine...an armed perpetrator will prevail over an unarmed victim(s) with monotonous regularity

this may be the match that ignites a revolution, lack of jobs, people loosing their homes, government spending, raising taxes--how much more will the people take?

Rim fire weapons used to negate all previous imposed AWB restrictions. However my hypocrite of a senator (Ca, Democrat Dianne Feinstein - who has a CCW permit) is pushing to have ALL simiauto weapons that have a fixed or detachable magazine that has the capability of holding more than 10 rounds made illegal, Including RIMFIRE not just centerfire. Witch would include ALL M&P's, rifles and pistols alike illegal except the revolvers.

I implore you to please watch this video and after doing so please email your senators and representatives a letter telling them exactly how you feel about them imposing restrictions on our god given right to bare arms in this great country.

already done,i got on the stick as soon as a possible ban was mentioned==if they allow grandfathering remember to load up the guns with as many (evil)features as you can--slide fire stock, flash hider etc,,,if you gotta pay $200 make it worth it,build the scariest thing you can afford--my sks would give her fits 22mm grenade launcher, dummy grenades,bayonette,30rds--and it never hurt anyone

well then we just got to make a stand, some things require sacrafice so future generations can enjoy the freedoms we take fore granted. i for one am willing to dig in my heels and make a stand against people who would take away our god given rights. are you? i mean our fore fathers did it for us so dont we owe future generations the right to be free?

Most of the time I would disagree and say take off the tinfoil hats. However now in this current situation, I am under the belief we are about to see a historical change with in our country. If this situation gets pushed any farther make no mistake it will be a very precarious situation set with a hair trigger(no pun intended).
This is by far the most intrusive power grab our government has ever bestowed upon us U.S. citizens. Our founding fathers knew this is what would become of any tyrannical government that sought power enough to oppress our citizens and it is exactly why they put the 2nd amendment in ink on that great document we know as our constitution.
That being said. I think the historical change will be weather we bend over and give up our god given inalienable rights of natural defense or we the people insist on maintaining our rights as free people.

For now, If you care at all about your rights to bare arms you NEED to write your senators and representatives. You must insist to them that anything that oppresses our 2nd amendment is not good for our great nation.

im not into the conspiracy thing but ever since the patriot act i have been watching our freedoms erode away ,people are trading their freedom for safety but soon they will find they have neither---tsa--dhs--indefinate detention for citizens--wire tapping, spying, reading of email and personal records without warrents--drones spying on us in our country to name a few, when will we say enough ? im getting the impression our leaders are the criminals and they are afraid of us---and they should be,,maybe thats the rush to disarm america---armed people are citizens unarmed people are subjects, there were 2.5 million guns sold since the shooting and more ar15 mags sold in 3 days than the last 3 1/2 yrs hmmmm the majority want gun control???

I am a Citizen of the United States of America... of sound mind and no criminal record... I am no threat to anyone or anything save those who would do harm to my Family... my Friends... my Nation... my GOD and Myself... I am protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution to the right to bear arms and from GOD the right to defend Me and Mine from all harm... Any assault by usurping my rights through new legislation... taxation... registration of Arms or threat of force I will regard as an attack on my very life and my right to FREEDOM.

Understand that even the firearms you will be "allowed" to keep, if Feinstein gets her way, you will be fingerprinted, you will be registered with the BATFE and you WILL have to have a CLEO "vouch" for you.

This is an absolute violation of the Second Amendment.
Actually, I don't see where that violates the 2nd Amendment. I've been fingerprinted for my CWP, and have absolutely no problem with the government having serial numbers and information on all of my guns. (No, I'm not concerned they will all be confiscated.) I personally think that ALL firearms should have a record of ownership.

I do disagree with the current "assault" weapons wording, when almost none of them are real assault weapons, certainly not our .22's.

I would not trust the government with that information, although it is true that they can already access much of it. Every nation that has had it's people disarmed has had registration; it is a prerequisite to confiscation. Look at history. Our world may have changed quite a bit since the times of the American Revolution, but human nature has not.

Historical note:
The Virginia ratifying convention met from June 2 through June 26, 1788. Edmund Pendleton, opponent of a bill of rights, weakly argued that abuse of power could be remedied by recalling the delegated powers in a convention. Patrick Henry shot back that the power to resist oppression rests upon the right to possess arms:

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.

Henry sneered,

O sir, we should have fine times, indeed, if, to punish tyrants, it were only sufficient to assemble the people! Your arms, wherewith you could defend yourselves, are gone...Did you ever read of any revolution in a nation...inflicted by those who had no power at all?

Food for thought.

Hopefully if we all get involved and let our representatives know our feelings this legislation will be quashed. I pray the Republicans in the House don't roll over on this one and I still hold out that cooler heads will prevail.

Rant to follow. Moderators, if this is inappropriate here, then either delete it or move it.

There are many proposals being floated, but the anti-gun people want as much as they can get, and they are using the tragedy in Connecticut to try to accomplish goals they would not have been otherwise able to accomplish.

They want to declare certain guns "contraband." Like marijuana. Thus, you can't sell them, you can't pass them to your heirs and the government does not have to pay you if they take it from you. Is that version likely to pass? I don't know. They want much more than the NFA of 1934. For once, they don't want to create a bureaucracy. Don't pass "go." Don't collect $200. Just collect the contraband. And prosecute those in possession. Lesser versions would be permanent (without sunset provision) versions of what we had before under the Clintons.

The media is helping by fanning the flames with phrases like "more guns in school" to make pro-gun people sound insane.

The media has also been on a campaign to convince us that pro-gun legislators like Harry Reid (can you believe that anyone thinks he is pro-gun) are now ready to take away the Second Amendment because "assault weapons" are not for hunting.

Talk to Suzanna Gratia Hupp about whether the Second Amendment has anything to do with hunting. If you haven't seen it lately, go and watch the video of her testimony before the "Clowns in Congress" after her parents were executed in front of her at Luby's Cafeteria. Watch as Chuck Schumer smirks at her while she describes the horrifying scene that she is powerless to stop because she obeyed the stupid law.

Perhaps the "Clowns in Congress" should agree to a compromise - pass your law further restricting guns, but the next mass murder each one of the Clowns who sold us that bill of goods is prosecuted as an accessory to murder. Any takers?

If you took the "reasoning" of the anti-gun people to its extreme, and believe that "more guns" is NOT the answer, then you would expect the anti-gun people to propose unilateral disarmament for police. In fact, I imagine that some fringe types want just that. Along with unilateral disarmament of our military.

I may be too negative, but it seems to me the anti-gun people never compromise and the pro-gun just roll over for fear of losing their elected office. Any bets on who compromises on the "fiscal cliff?"

Let us hope that cooler heads prevail because what we all know, whether we admit it or not, is that a "ban" on anything will not prevent the next mad man.

We are paying the price for a generation of de-institutionalizing the insane and for not being proactive with obviously sociopathic kids who thrive on the make-believe violence of video under the guise of "politcal correctness" or so we will not "hurt the feelings" of the misunderstood child or his parent. The disaffected child who lives in a fantasy world in front of a computer game, with no friends, no activity and no respect for whatever relative or foster parent is trying to raise such kids.

It is already against the law to commit murder, isn't it? Twenty-six times? Perhaps we need some more "hate crime" legislation.

I note that Israel just does not have these problems, even though within spitting distance of people who have sworn to wipe them off the face of the earth. I understand that Israel has pretty much wiped out incidents of hijacking of aircraft and of school shootings. They don't seem to have felt the need to ban anything. Self-defense is encouraged - as it should be.

The worst part of it is that in England and here in the U.S., there seems to be a mentality that a constitutional right should stand or fall based upon the unpredictable acts of a madman. Who is crazier, the madman or the people who use such reasoning in the mistaken belief we will all be safer?

End of rant.

Second note to moderators: If you feel the need to delete this or to move it, ok. I would rather not be kicked off the forum.
