It STILL amazes me how the guy (an out and out scammer) on Fleebay and other sites still continues to sell phony empty gun boxes for an absurd amount! He still has Gold Cup Series 70 boxes (a found treasure he proclaims) for $255.00 and I still see plenty of people either watching or buying them. He has been exposed many many times on this and other sites, yet he STILL is in the business of scamming people into thinking they are genuine. He also offers all different configurations and sizes and I believe that buyers are either just soooooo naive or just don't care that they are plunking down so much money for a "***AZY" product. Are buyers really THAT NAIVE????

Fake Boxes

I think a lot of those buyers know what they are getting and some of them intend to profit from creating a package.

You are correct. There are so many buyers out there that are not knowledgeable and don't do their homework. Hate to see anyone get burned, but it happens.

Some people are just loaded with money and have no problems paying the high prices for certain items.

Being a radio collector, I once watched 4 Telefunken matched tubes (ones that would be used in a guitar amp) sell for about
$2600.00.

My jaw dropped at the price, than I started to think about it, maybe Eric Clapton or someone like him was the high bidder.

And those paying high prices and getting ripped off on an item that is misrepresented, well maybe they need to further their education in that area.

Fun fact: "***azy" is a slang term for "fake" or "phony." :D

...this guy doesn't seriously sell these boxes under the name "***azy," does he?

If that's a 1962 Python, those wouldn't be the correct stocks anyway. Not only are they 2nd Gen stocks, but they also have incorrect medallions. Pythons would have gold colored medallions, not silver.

I still remained surprised that Colt wouldn't go after this guy. Colt and a good lawyer would have his counterfeit goods confiscated faster than the ink drying on a cease and desist order. This stuff only hurts Colt's reputation, and violates the copyright laws.

I retired from Ford several years ago. Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and other auto manufacturers actually worked together, sharing information with the Feds, so counterfeit auto items could be seized. Don't know why Ruger, Colt, S&W, etc., don't do the same.

Just curious, what do genuine Colt boxes sell for? I've got a 70 Series box and a 80 Series Gold Cup I might have to put on the block.

That's real hard to say because I can't remember seeing a GENUINE ONE in excellent condition lately.

The Series 80 boxes are probably not worth a whole lot because there seems to be little demand, but a Series 70 Gold Cup (circa 1970's) would be worth a nice chunk if it were in pristine condition and came along with the instruction manual and hang tag - well over $200 I would guess.

With the number of fake Colt boxes and labels I'm surprised anyone pays a penny extra for a "NIB" Colt.

I just hope we don't see faked Smith & Wesson boxes, paper work and labels become the norm like they have with Colts.

how about registered boxes? I am amazed someone hasn't taken him out behind the barn for a stern talking to.
