As a long time lurker, I am happy to join the community here and share my minuscule knowledge. Hopefully I can continue to learn from the excellent resources here about quality vintage S&W revolvers. I post, buy and sell quite a bit over on 24hourcampfire under the same name.

I am particularly fond of J frames, doubly so for the baby chief variation. Here is my fine example:

All numbers match, save for the grips. SN 174XX serrated ramp sight.

Welcome to the S&W Forum.
Great gun and great first post. You're going to fit in fine :D

What a nice piece. That is in outstanding condition.

That is a really nice Baby Chief, I have it's twin. I was told it was never fired, but I doubt that is true. However it remains my only "safe queen". I didn't get the original box or papers.

It was so nice that I got another to shoot. It has the slightly newer larger trigger guard.

That's a nice pair. The newer one is an early Model of 1953, probably a 4 screw. It still has the early hammer and looks slightly bobbed. It's grip frame is 1/8" longer as well.
