Back from Gettysburg!

For all those that wanted to know..............

My deepest THANKS to all on here..........Gettysburg is STUNNING in every aspect of the word. To stand and reflect on the actual locations some 154 years ago was very solemn, introspective and quite spirtual all at the same time. The same for the closing ceremony I played for and the whole purpose for the trip.

The monuments are stunning...the marker boards are stunning, the stories are stunning. All I can say is....it was and still is STUNNING.

It is a beautiful place. Very nice honor for you.

My wife and I toured there in 2009. I've been to Manassas, Antietam and Gettysburg. All were quite moving. Helped give me insight what my great grandfather endured for two years.
 
Went there many moons ago.As a young boy with probably a bigger imagination than now it was indeed a sight to behold.I can picture it now from reading about it but a young boy's imagination makes one think they are right there.
 
Have been in the area my whole life, for all the times I visit there my thoughts and feelings never change! ;)

I've been meaning to go back there sometime.
The last time I was a young kid and mostly just remember being scolded for jumping rock to rock at Devils Den. " You're going to break your leg!"
Being near Richmond has afforded me the opportunity to visit nearby battle grounds though.
I never tire of it.
 
Radio guy Michael Medved is a real pragmatic guy who approaches most thing on a logical level. But one time years ago he said he snuck onto Cemetary ridge with a friend and stayed the night. He then said he didn't want to get into what he saw and moved on. A couple years later I called and asked him to tell us. At first relunctantly, he said he heard the sound of lots of footsteps and clanging gear and looked over where it was coming from ans saw the images of lots of guys in grey silently marching.
Since he's usually the skeptical type looking at things scientifically first, that made me take him more seriously here.
 
Back when I was 20, I walked Pickett's Charge and spent the night in the Devil's Den.

I didn't hear anything, but I left there with an never ending impression of the bravery and determination on each side.

They were all Americans fighting for what they and their compatriots believed was important. There is no higher standard than that.

Your playing brought a tear to my eye. You put a lot of emotion in that simple tune. Thank you and congratulations on that fine honor. You did yourself and those veterans proud.

Well done!

I have been to many funerals that had military honor guards. As a lifelong musician, I can bear witness that no instrument on earth can make me weak at the knees like a bugle or bagpipes.
 
When I visited, I was overcome by a feeling that's impossible to describe.
Can only include that it's haunted by the souls lost there.
