Back from my 1st hunt! Wild boar in TN at Croy's Cabins!

Popped one about five years ago down in Charlies neck of the woods, in Perry County, MS while riding the quad on one of our (at that time) duck leases. That boar treed me. He absorbed three Federal HS 40 S & W 180 gr bullets like I was shooting spit wads at him. Another hunter shot him the following week with a 7mm Mag and offered half the meat to me as I had done half the work, I turned him down and told him to keep it all. Hogs can be some tenacious animals when confronted, especially after being wounded.

Aloha,

Great show and tell.

Not to detract from the OP, But, just to let those of you who want to get away from hunting in that kind of weather, Hawaii does have pig hunting. They are pests here just as they are on the mainland.

IF it WERE legal, I could have had an 80 pounder either by running it over with my SUV or shooting it left handed from the SUV. It ran across the road right in front of me. Stopped less than 35 feet on the far side of the road. Note: Hawaii does not have CCW......

So far in less than a year, I and the Wife have seen pigs 5 times. Google Kapaa Quarry Road towards Mokapuu Blvd(we live a mile down the Blvd) and you'll see how close to civilization they are.

Pig hunting is legal year 'round.

For those who want to hunt(we have axis deer also) and fish, Hawaii is nice during winter time. The husband can go hunting(or fishing) and the Wife and family can go shopping or to the beach. All on the same island.

Right now it is cold for us(65F).......

Sorry for the thread drift

It's makes me really happy that so many of you are enjoying my post. I guess my enthusiasm comes through! The next best thing to being there is re-living it again by telling the story.

I cooked three sausage patties for my wife and I yesterday morning and we both loved it with our scrambled eggs.

Then I cooked sausage biscuits and gravy for our daughter and she loved it. I usually make that for her with Bob Evans sausage and she said my boar was better. It's definitely leaner.

There was a little bit left over so our dog, Shelby, loved it too!

I gave one package to my good friend at work and another to a guy on another shift who has given me venison summer sausage from deer that he's harvested in the past. It was nice to repay him and he seemed really excited about it.

I was looking at ham glazes and ribs rub at the store today. I'm off Monday and Tuesday so I'm going to defrost some and cook it for dinner. Very exciting!

WOW!! Great story, good shooting! You had a truly memorable
hunt. I don't see how it could get any better. Nice to put all the
practice to work, it really paid off. TACC1

Congradulations! I really enjoyed the story and pictures. You really done well! Excellent writeup that we wont forget.

Yesterday I was able to talk with the (now retired) co-worker who sold me the Marlin. He's been retired around 11 years and I haven't seen him in around 5. I showed him the photos and told him how much I love the rifle he sold me 22 years ago. He said I made his day. Then he corrected himself and said I made his year!

Mmmmmmm! Sausage patties and scrambled eggs for my wife this morning!

I hope your ribs work out better than my boar ribs. They had very little meat and were so tough that all I could do was lick the sauce off of them.:)

Here is my boar from 23 years ago. I shot it with a 44 magnum.
