Back strap issues

I have a new Pro 9 and the frame tool is tight and doesn't want to turn.

This is my first Smith M&P and I'm reluctant to use excessive force. Has anyone seen this before and how much force is needed to remove the frame tool?

When I first tried to remove mine, it was super tight. I gently used pliers, put a rag over the jaws, and gave it a turn. After that, I'm not able to install/remove the frame tool by hand.

I am a new M&P9 owner, and on my first cleaning, I too was baffled by how well the tool was seated and didn't want to turn. Very tight! It will come out.
But on my next go around, I'll be using a small screwdriver to get at the sear deactivation lever.
The frame tool has a permanent resting spot where it's at.

I thought that may be necessary but I'm reluctant to use pliers.

Those things are always very tight and hard to remove at first. I turn it 90 degrees then use the edge of a table or desk and smack the butt of the gun to get it free the first time. It takes a lot of force.

Both of mine were not as people are describing. Only thing that annoyed me was that their was an excess piece of plastic on the edges that would dig into my hand. Not a problem anymore.

Mine was very tight the first time (haha, that's what SHE said!) But now it's easier. It still takes some force, so I just applied a little gun oil to it and that helps it quite a bit with insertion and extraction.
