what is the reason to stay away from the 41
you are talking about don

What about my Mdl 41, serial #UBA 9xxx, purchaesd in 1995? Where does this one place?

I purchased my Model 41 new in 1980, it's ser # A5825XX, and it has fired many thousands of 22 HV rounds without a single broken part. I do replace the recoil spring once a year. Apparently I got one of the good ones, I plan on shooting it for the rest of my life, and then my son can see if he can wear it out.
Paid the full retail price of 325.00 back then, best money I ever spent.

I purchased a new Smith & Wesson model 41 in 1973 that had the 7.375" barrel with a factory muzzel brake. The serial number was: A197243. This pistol had an outstanding factory metal polish/blue job and very percise fitted grips. However, the trigger was poor (creep) and it jammed at least ounce every box of shells and it was NOT accurate. I sent it back to Smith but it did not help the poor trigger or bad accuracy. In 1977 I traded it for a Smith & Wesson model 17-3(K-22) .22 CAL. 6" blue 3-T's and I have never looked back. This model 17 has the best trigger of ANY handgun I have ever fired and it is the most ACCURATE handgun I have ever fired. So, can you get a bad M-41 ? YES, I had one.

Ammo question on the 41 - I had been told to use subsonic ammunition and avoid high-velocity rounds...what is your valued opinion on this? Thank you.
