Bad alkaline batteries

I have bought all my duracell batteries from Costco. And they
have ruined a bunch of flashlights, smoke alarms, weather stations
and low powder sensor on my Dillon press. I don't think Costco
is selling knock offs. I WILL AVOID DURACELL AT ALL COST AND
WILL ADVISE EVERYONE I TALK TO AS WELL. THEY SUCK.

And I thought it was just me! Noticed poor longevity and some leaks with ye ole copper tops.

Have since transitioned to Energizer Lithiums. Lighter weight, longer lasting, longer shelf life and better temperature operating range.

Avy beacon, avy probe, flashlights, smoke detectors, guitars, door locks - pretty much everything gets these now.

Yep, gave up on "LeakyCell" copper top batteries a few years ago. Right after their leaky **** AA batteries ruined a $150 temp meter.

I think there is a common thread running through this thread. I too have used my last copper top and switched to the bunny battery. You really have to stop and think what you have batteries in, clocks, flashlights, headlamps, thermostats, remotes, self dimming welding helmets, multimeter, bore scopes, safes, radios, etc, etc.........

And here I thought I was alone, but I'm in good company.

Just got a headlamp from Amazon. Came with 3 Duracell AAA batteries sealed in plastic. Date on them says Mar. 2025. Already leaked in the plastic. I wasn't actually gonna use them, but I can't believe they leaked without being out of the package.

No scientific testing performed but the Energizer Ultimate Lithium cells seem to have a very long life, and I have not experienced any leakage. I use them in smoke and CO detectors, clocks, and smaller flashlights. I have one clock which has been running on the same cell for just over three years.

I stopped buying Duracell's over two years ago after experiencing multiple ruined devices from them! Went over to Ray-O-Vac which in most sizes lasts longer than the Duracells did and haven't leaked yet. On Amazon They are also half the cost!
