Well just as my first infraction was about to expire I made a comment to a now closed thread and went a bit too far I guess. Sorry to those I offended. Think I'll take a break after this.

Hay;

welcome to the club.

Been there done that.

Actually, I think they are pretty easy on you, when sentanced.....
or maybe my crimes were not judged as a Major offense , but
I do think one of them was pretty bad, being a family site,
which slipped my mind, that day.

He who post, without thinking, or doesn't follow the rules, gets "Dinged" !!

I finally learned today that "Creative spelling" is the easiest way to get dinged.
Glad that they will give you a break and correct that word and give you a "No, no, no" letter , just this one time.......... :D

....and when will I learn to prof read my post?
I hate it when I leave out letters or spell a word wrong and the
sentance does not make any sense.

It is almost as bad as finishing a post and hitting the wrong button and have it all................ vanish.
Carry on.

I don't think "taking a break' is an answer. I am currently working off a point because I ignored a clearly written rule. Totally on me. I go over the Rules and TOS often now to keep fresh.

Color within the lines, play nice and avoid touchy threads and you will receive a much more harmonious outcome.

Another Pro Tip:

Life is touchy. Sometimes you have to comment on it.

Multiple dings and a few "time outs" here. Still working off one point as I type.

The rules here are strict. But it helps keep the place as good as it is. Even the best of us just can't help ourselves at times.
Its no big deal. Just means that you say what's on your mind. Ain't nothing wrong with that. ;)

Yeah, just like my tagline. Even been in forum jail for 3 days.

I had a karma when my last point expired in February.

Live and learn. No need to take a break.

But , JMHO.

Politics and religion, guarenteed to piss someone off, and rightfully so. The only way to live together is to respect each others views by not imposing our own.

As Bob Dylan said: "Sometimes you just find yourself over the line." If you have never been dinged, you just aren't trying hard enough. I'm not condoning rule violations. What I am saying is, you can't be sure where the line is unless you step over it. When you end up in our jail, think about it, accept it and move on with life.

Sometimes you can get a chuckle out of a ding. I was once dinged for using the wrong section in which to post. My retort was that my posting error was from a few years back.

The ding was graciously removed by the big gorilla...

That is the trap I seem to fall into every now and then.:D:rolleyes:

I was a good boy for a long time. Then suddenly, I was banned twice in a matter of weeks, the second time for a week or so.

My infractions? The first was making clear references on how to Google an interview about a movie which I thought pretty funny in Vanity Fair which contained a banned topic and banned language. (I did not post a link, thinking that explaining how to find the article, but no link, would keep it within forum rules. Wrong!)

The second was a link to an article in the WaPo on the war in Ukraine within which there was a short video, which I had not watched, in which a Ukrainian soldier used a prohibited word in describing Russian soldiers.

Seemed a pretty strict interpretation of the rules to me, but I don't make the rules and I don't interpret or enforce them.

John, welcome to the bad boy club, but, don't fret about it. The mods mean nothing personal about it. Doesn't mean anyone thinks you're bad guy. Few of your fellow forum members even noticed the comment, whatever it was, and most of us have been there and done that, as you can see from all the comments.

As Ladder13 says above, "Carry on. It's all good."

I learned at work and when in the service...........................

one (1) awh dang .............................

wipes out 50 "At a boys " .

and then you start all over if you get married.

"Honey"....................

Hark;
what does lurk in the next room ?

Life goes on and you learn and just be a bit more circumspect. Not a major issue compared to real life. I have gotten an infraction or so and just chalked it up to try to be wiser before posting. I would also say continue on posting and enjoy yourself.

Couldn't count the posts I've made and after rereading them, deleted them before hitting submit.

Same here.

George Carlin's routine about 7 words you can't use on TV is still a pretty good guide. I was on the radio decades ago and there was no way back then I ever would have gotten away with what I hear on radio and TV today. Remembering the standards I had to operate under decades ago hopefully will keep me out of trouble today.

I’ve definitely had my share of dings - 10 to be exact over 14 years! [emoji23] Mostly for not reading or understanding the rules ……

There's plenty of forums out there to vent ones frustrations.

Get it out of your system and come back here with a new appreciation.

I've been spanked, sent to bed without supper & stood in the corner with dunce cap on. Three pages worth!

But I learned a little each time (I hope). Not to worry, the rules here do set this forum to higher standards than most. And that's not a bad thing.

Dings….your talking to a guy who was on the receiving end of a Nuns’s ruler.

Just a lesson on rules.
