I have a hankering for Banana's Foster, and, unable to find a local restaurant that offers this dessert, have resigned myself to DIY. I think I've assembled all the necessary components and instructions, but will welcome any advice...
one stick of butter (real butter!), 1/2c brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon. Combine over medium heat. When hot, add in sliced bananas, 1/4c dark rum, quickly saute. Spoon out the bananas and reduce the sauce as necessary, serve over vanilla ice cream.
I do the same thing with pineapple instead of bananas, also. Yum!
I've never really used a recipe for most of my cooking - little of this, little of that, etc. But this one looks good, note that it's a LOT less butter than I posted: Banana's Foster Recipe : Alton Brown : Food Network
I had it in Australia. Very simple. Peel banana...toss aside skin, then toss aside banana...open a large can of Foster's and down it...repeat until you run out of bananas or beer...
