I just watched the first 6 parts on the History channel. I don't know if or when they'll show the rest.
What ever happens to the David Schwimmer character? A victim of "friendly" fire? Or did he finally get his act together?

It would actually spoil it for you to tell you. Just a hint, he shows up later, with Major Winters outranking him.

Sobel also served in Korea as a rifle company commander. He later retired from the ARNG as an LTC. He was hated by the men of E/506th PIR for decades.

If the history channel isn't showing the interviews with the real men you need to buy the DVD set.

While the series was great, the interviews with the actual men were even better, IMO.

Bob,
They did show some interviews with the actual members of the company. I don't know if they showed all of them.
Todays showing stopped just as Easy Company was about to move into Bastogne.
Guess I'll have to rent the set. I'm hooked now.

RonJ pick it up you will not be dissapointed. Perhaps the greatest WWII movie ever made.

It's definitely worth owning or renting. I bought the set after catching a few episodes on The History Channel. I kept catching them out of order and I'm glad I finally got to see the entire series.

Ebay and Amazon are good sources for used sets.

I don't know....hard to top the movies made from Cornelius Ryan's books.

Perhaps the greatest WWII movie ever made.

Perhaps, right after "12 O'Clock High" and "From Here to Eternity". Then there is "The Longest Day" and maybe a few others.

IIRC, he ultimately committed suicide, and always blamed the E company men for what he claimed they did to him.

If I recall he even botched the suicide. He died a bit later. I remember reading that some of the guys from Easy reached out to him and tried to get him to come to the reunions but he refused.

Poor guy must have something hanging over his head. I just Googled him. When I went to the site my anti virus had to jump in to get a trojan horse.

The funny thing about Schwimmer is that every time he's in a movie he's playing the "Wanker". Could he be the Ned Beatty of the 21st Century?

This has to rank right up there with "Saving Private Ryan" as my all time favorite WWII show. You can tell the producers really did their homework to make everything correct.

Great miniseries. I got kinda choked up at the end when they showed the real guys.

RIP LTC Sobel.

they show the interviews at the beginning and at the end of the episodes. nice thing about the History Channel showing it is they dont edit it.

i have the DVD set, but HC shows it pretty often. several times they have shown all episodes in a row on a saturday.
