Bank Rant

I would appreciate that level of account security . . .

That kind of security has drawbacks. Say He was on Vacation and His Car broke down and He needed more money than He had in the bank to get it fixed,How the heck could I get the Money to Him if They wont let Me deposit it?

There are some banks that now will not even allow bank depositors pay their loan payments in cash. Before very long cash will be a thing of the past. People being chipped is not far down the road. I remember back in the 80's it was believed that someday people will pay for things with plastic bank cards.

Security is one thing but Chase is the only Bank I ever saw that would not let Me put Cash into one of My Kid's accounts.
All the others have no problem with it.
It doesnt matter because He's changing Banks because of fthe hassle He had with them.

I believe Chase was convicted several years back of abetting money laundering. They had to pay a large fine and were required to institute many onerous cash handling policies that limited their ability to repeat the crime. As other big banks catch on that Chase can get away with such policies they are starting to institute them too pushing for a more cash free automated financial system. By the way, the ATM at my Credit Union branch office will accept cash deposits, but you need an ATM card to use it.

Ah Chase bank again. Do to their BS we dropped all accounts we had with them and I also sold the Chase stock I was holding.

I would rather do business with a outfit that appreciates my business.

I've deposited cash into my sons account a couple of times. Each time i show my ID, to prove that the last names are the same...This seems to keep them happy...

I haven't used a bank since 1980.
I'm surprised any bank is still in business with their poor service and high fees compared to credit unions.

Chase is on my list to not do business with! They made it hard to read your statement on line and then charge you fees without your knowledge. I still have their CC but stopped using it. Told them to close out the account and they wont do it yet. I flat out told them I am not liable for anything being charged to that card after telling to close it.

I'm fortunate to live in an are which still has regional banks so I can avoid banking with the huge national institutions. PNC bank has policies like Chase, heck they even charge you if you visit a teller more than three times per month. I belong to a credit union too, however they are "branch-less". ATM and online only.

My regional bank holds any cash deposit of more than $1,000 for up to three business days. The credit union ATM instantly credits cash up to $3,000 to your account. They probably transmit the images of the cash to the Feds.

Big brother, thou art everywhere.:(

Most people have no idea how onerous the rules and regulations foisted upon banks are. ANd the feds are lying in wait to pounce. That is one reason why I do not do work for banks anymore. The rules and regulations I would fall under as a banking"vendor"are far to onerous fora solo like me to bear. That is why the little banks are soon to be a thing of the past. It is all about economies of scale with regard to the rules and regulations the banks have to go through. they have the same compliance cost with a $10,000 depositor as they do with the million dollar depositor. And it's expensive!!! I'll stop here because further explaination will by necessity veer off to forbidden discussion.
Oh and BTW I refuse to do bid'ness with chase too as they are over the top with their own useless regulations in addition to the feds.

Making cash deposits into someone's account just as they started an election campaign has proved to be a useful smear trick. Yes, the recipient is innocent, but mud sticks.

As for proving ID, don't make me smile. If I needed an ID that would convince most that I was a certain person's father/son/brother it wouldn't be hard to get one that lasted long enough to commit some nefarious deed.

Our local bank has changed it's name 3 times since I started with them back in the 1900s. I live in a small town and go to the bank enough that some of the folks there know me.
I tried to cash a check a while back. The lady asked for ID. I showed her my DL. She asked for another form of ID. I showed her a CC. She asked for a third ID. I asked her if she had my account on her screen? She said she did. I told her to find whoever she need to find and get every penny in that account and put it in a sack and give it to me now!
Well, you never saw such steppin and fetchen and going in and out of offices in all your life. Soon a young VP" name tag man" came to me and asked what was wrong and could he make things right without me leaving with my money in a sack? I told him what had happened whereupon he started telling me it was for my protection BUT if I would not leave with money in a sack, he would promise me it would never happen again. Now when I go in I get big smiles and Good Mornings. I'm certain that there are also some "That old ***" muttered too. I don't care, my problem was solved. I don't go to banks to make friends, I go to conduct business and expect to be treated like I was 50 years ago. If that doesn't happen, put my stuff in a sack and I'm outta here.

I left Wells Fargo years ago because the local branch was going to start charging me to use there ATM using the debit card they provided to get MY money, then they started to charge for every time I used my debit card or wrote a check. I joined the local federal credit union, there is no charge to use the ATM, use my debit card or write a check. No fees to use there bill paying service. I just ask about a home improvement loan, no service charge to process the loan, a full 1.5 % lower interest rate than the banks.

It's a bank. Banks are businesses, they do what they have to do to protect themselves. Find a bank that will fulfill your needs and move there.

When I want to give my kids money it's simple. My daughter in law works at a bank. So I send her a check. Next day it shows up on my account.
With my daughter it's just as simple. Her bank has an app for your phone. She takes a picture of the front and back of the check and bingo, the app deposits it. I do most of my banking with military credit unions. No hassles. In the past I have had and closed accounts with BofA, Manufacturers Hanover (out of business), Key Bank, Union Bank(AKA United Bank), George Mason Bank (in VA), and frankly they all s--k. But mainly I pay in cash or use a debit card (same as cash and no fees). The limit on cash payments is 9,999.00 Higher than that gets reported to the Feds. (might be a drug dealer.......Yeah right!)

My bank charges people who don't have an account to cash my checks. Insane. The point of a checking account is that the bank pays "upon demand" a negotiable instrument. I pay the bank to provide the service, but now they charge others, too. Greedy scum.

Several years ago I did some dozer work for a land developer. I had to visit his office and use some innovative collection methods, but he wrote me a check. I took it to his bank to cash and was told they would charge me for cashing the check since I did not have an account with them, bank policy you know. After getting one of the VPs and he repeated the policy, I ask to use his phone to call the local DA to report a hot check since they would not pay face value. I picked up the phone and he had a teller pay me in full.

I got caught on that one time so I took the check back to the person that gave it to me and they gave me cash. I don't know if they changed banks but since then I only take cash from that person. Larry
