Until recently I had a little folding magnifying glass which allowed clear inspection of lit pistol barrels down about 3.5 inches. Now it's disappeared and two others I have wont do that at all. My guess is that what the missing one had was much more depth of field. I'd like to replace it. Anyone else use this method successfully?

I have a jeweler's magnifier with a flourescent lamp that sits on my gunbench. It works well up to about five inches. It was pricey, but I use it for just about everything cause my eyesight is not what it used to be. Wish I could afford a borescope.

It's a name brand professional model with a heavy base and articulated arm. I'm sorry I am not where I can check the brand name. But it's the type a watchrepair shop would use. They come in different focus distances. And you get what you pay for lense-wise. I've seen a small inexpensive inspection tool the slips into the bore, I don't know if they work. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas...=cat20797&hasJS=true
