I found a barrel from one of the new model 22 45 acp guns. Can I have this barrel installed on a 25-2 or are the threads different from the old guns to the new ones?

Thanks!

How hard is it to change a barrel? is it just threaded on?
I have a 686-6 plus with 6" barrel. Can i buy another 4" barrel or is it cheaper and easier to buy another gun?

barrel changing

It is easy to change out barrels IF you have the proper tools and knowledge.

Without the proper tools (frame wrench, barrel vise blocks) it is VERY easy to do permanent damage to the frame.

You need more than those two tools. You need to be able to take accurate measurements, probably a lathe in order to turn down the barrel's shoulder and tools to shorten & re-cut the forcing cone. It's a job for an experienced pro or the factory.

I don't have any thoughts of trying it myself. Just needed to know if the barrels would interchange before I considered buying this extra barrel.

Thanks!
