In searching through various suppliers (user evaluations) such as Brownell's it seems the barrel wrenches are for the most part, "inadequate" for getting the job done without damaging the weapon.

Before I lay down my hard-earned money, I like to research the in's and out's. Being a Smith & Wesson fan since the 60's, naturally, I was gravitating towards the MP-10 for a .308 rifle. However, the accessory manufacturers seem slow to take S&W under their wing and start supplying the parts that unquestionably fit. I'm referring to mainly to match-quality barrels and the bolt carrier group match up. S&W is apparently less than eager to put forth a ready supply of parts for this recent upstart.
If you are not aware of a comment by a S&W Rep's posting on another forum, please note: "Most of the "major" components on the M&P10 are proprietary to S&W. (Barrel Extension, Upper and Lower Receiver, Bolt and Carrier, Receiver Extension, Buffer and Buffer Spring, Ambi-bolt and Mag release.) You can use standard AR15 trigger groups, free float and drop in rails, flash hiders, stocks ( mil-spec collapsible) sights, pistol grips etc."
Mayhaps I should consider 'another' manufacturer?

Exactly what makes you sure parts for any other AR pattern 7.62mm rifles interchange? I do know there are at least two different magazine patterns and they don't interchange.

I've no clue on 7.62 AR wrenches. Given the design of the barrel nut on the AR pattern, due care in use of the wrench is required. There are many barrel nut wrenches, some may be better than others, none I've seen are idiot proof. Ones that use 3 pins (9, 12 and 3 o'clock) to engage the nut seem less likely to cause issues, but still aren't idiot proof. The barrel nut isn't an expensive or critically dimensioned part and it is out of sight when the handguards are on.

[I am "not sure", Mr Moore, that is why I ask]

That's my point! No one seems to really know what fits a MP-10. Other rifles like DPMS DO have parts that are identified in sources such as Brownell's as fitting the particular rifles. Apparently DPMS and S&W altho sharing common barrel fittings and bolts will not interchange from what some of the folks are saying.
...If a product is of a faulty design a 'genius' can bung something up with it...

Barrel wrench is standard AR pattern. The free one that came with my MI handguard was more than up to the task. I was impressed because my universal AR wrench wouls never handle that much torque without spreading.

I am not sure about them 3 pin things. I doubt one would do as well as the MI that enguages every other point on the nut, and I had to run mine tight to the limit and then some!
