The used gun case at the Vegas Bass Pro rarely disappoints and today was no different.

Knowing BP occasionally has diamonds in their used gun case, I stopped by today to find this beautiful 5" 27-2. Other than a partial turn line, it's perfect. Came with display case and goodies for $1300. The only thing better would have been a nickel 3.5" :D

Here she is paired with my FHP 5"

Oh my. That's...beautiful. Not something you'd expect to find at Bass Pro. I lucked into mine about 5 years ago for 6 clams from someone that wanted a rifle more than he did the gun. Mine came with the original box & tools, but not the presentation case. You did very well sir! Congrats.

Man, you must have a totally different experience on that side of this great nation. In the midwest, Bass Pro is 100% guilty of absolutely ruining the Cabela's experience that we formerly enjoyed.

I'd rather visit a Bass Pro than say a Wal-Mart or a furniture store… but for a guns, reloading and shooting enthusiast, Bass Pro sucks.

That 27 is a beauty though, can't argue with that!

Yep, BP has very little reloading stuff. I really go there looking for the occasional surprise in the used gun case. Been lucky 3-4 times in the past 12 months.

Well done!! A beautiful gun and a keeper for sure. Thanks for showing it.

I guess it depends on what part of the country you live in. My local Bass Pro has the best selection of reloading stuff in town. They even sell primers - and the price is $7.99 per hundred, just as it has been for years. I have not found great stuff in the used gun department, apparently someone has an inside track on that.

My local Bass Pro never carried any used guns before. But since they bought out Cabella's, they have been getting some used stuff now and then. There doesn't seem to be any kind of regular schedule. You just got to be lucky and visit when the guns come in.
I got lucky a few months ago and stumbled across a nice Colt Police Positive at a good price. ;)

Perhaps I should again visit the local BP's gun counter. Haven't spent much time there in years as there has been little to see other than relatively high priced new stuff. My other complaint, not that anyone asked, is that the guys at the gun counter seem to know very little about what they're selling and give the appearance of caring less. Last, I think only, gun I've ever bought there was this 631 which perhaps not surprisingly was tagged as a M63 22LR at $541 OTD although that was ten years ago. Perhaps its time to look again. Enjoy your great find.

The Cabelas in Hammond Indiana was alway a stop for the gun library and bargain cave but got rid of both
Unfortunately now I just drive by at 75 MPH

I miss Cabelas having cool stuff

I found the 5" nickel (above) in the gun library at the Reno Cabelas. Great finds are still out there, just a little harder to find.

Going to the big Reno show this weekend. It's been steadily declining since it left the GSR a few years ago. April's big show was a joke. However, I did come home with a nice 650 and WC 1911 mags. Many of the regular vendors are long gone.

Why did they get rid of the Gun Library? My local Cabela's still has theirs, as far as I know. Haven't been in there in a few months. A few years ago, I bought a gun out of the Hammond Gun Library, and had it shipped to the local store.

BTW, fantastic gun OP!

The Cabelas here in Tualatin closed the gun library room. Now it's the gun library half a display case. No sense having a room for 8 guns.

Too bad. The Tualitin gun library had some nice hardware. I'd have it shipped to the cabelas in Lacy. Faster background checks. Been about a year since my last visit. Also enjoyed hitting the Cracker Barrel for lunch.

Bass pro employees regularly lurk about Oklahoma City gun shows trying to buy stuff on the cheap to put in their library. I heard one tell
a vendor he would buy the whole collection if he would knock off 40%. All he walked away with was a "bird." This vendor actually had decent prices on most of his stuff, so to ask him to take another 40% off was insulting.

Back on track, those are some beautiful 27s there op. That nickel just makes me green with envy. Here's a pic of my 2. The one on the left is unfired outside of the factory, and the one on the right is my shooter.
