BATFE now requires form 5330.20 with Form 4 suppressor applications??

A year ago I submitted a form 4 for a suppressor. This past week I received a letter asking for a form 5330.20 to be filled out. It is essentially a form certifying USA citizenship OR asking for nonimmigrant/nonresident alien info. I went back and looked at my original paperwork to see if I missed something or made an error. The letter did NOT say whether this requested info was missing or as a result of a red flag. It just said "fill this out within 14 days or your application will be cancelled"

I sent a year ago: Form 4 with CLEO signature in section 17, $200 check, photographs, fingerprint cards.

I have gone over the BATFE site again today and I don't see anywhere on the form or in the instructions a requested form for USA citizenship certification or a line to be filled out and signed.

Is this a new suppressor requirement put in place since April of 2013? Has anyone else received one? The form itself is old. Last revised in April 2006.

Just to be safe, I sent back the form along with a photocopy of my birth certificate and original SS card issued over 50 years ago. I was born here in the USA of USA parents and social security records show me paying SS taxes since the early 70's. There would not have been any red flag on my life history.

By the way, the letter was received via USPS 8 days after the date on the letter and with a 14 day deadline.

As far as I know, this form was always required. It's easy to forget to send this one along with the package of paperwork. I forgot to send it once and resolved the issue by fax/email, I forget which. The good news is someone is actually looking at your paperwork and this shouldn't add more than a few days to your wait.

I must have looked at half a dozen suppressor manufacturer websites along with the BATFE site before sending in my paperwork. I swear I don't remember seeing that required form mentioned anywhere. My LGS had just gotten their class 3 license so they were new at this too.

Form 4 mentions the $200 check, fingerprints and photos. It has the CLEO area to sign. But no mention of a second form to send too.

I sent the paperwork back today via priority mail. It's been a long year waiting so far. Hopefully I am in the home stretch and can get my suppressor out of NFA jail soon. This is my first one so the wait has been really painful.

EDITED: I found this link today. It mentions that only one copy of form 5330.20 needs to sent with form 4. I hope my situation saves someone else from a delay.
