Here in the South we have what are known as "BBQ Guns". These are our "dress" guns (Sundy go to meeting) and are generally an expression of ourselves. Your BBQ gun doesn't have to be a large caliber, just something with a little of you expressed.

Several years ago, mine was a Llama 25ACP that was engraved. It was the size of a 380 and shot great and was very accurate. I wish I still had it.

I really like I frames. I currently have 5. My hands are HUGE and I have a hard time handling them, but I love them none the less.

I am currently on the hunt for a Terrier 5 shot 38 S&W. The weight and size is just right for a carry gun and powerfull enough for self defence.

I have an early I frame in 32 with the short barrel. The condition is pretty rough externally, but the bore is great and the operation is OK. The sights are tiny (I'm 57) and I have a hard time seeing them. I am planning to have it made into my "BBQ Gun" Shorten the barrel slightly, .10 ramp front and S&W adjustable rear sight, bead blasted and hard chromed.

Is it a bad thing? I don't think that it is collectable at all.

I know it isn't a man stopper, but a 32 S&W in the head will stop most problems, or at least get me a head start in a foot race.

What would YOUR BBQ gun be. Remember, its a formal occasion gun and doesn't have to be practical, just nice looking.

If you use the search function you'll find a number of threads on this topic over the years. There are some very fancy pistolas owned by forum members that have been posted.

But since you brought it up, here's mine. Years ago I mentioned to my wife that I thought I should have one really fancy gun so she had this one engraved for my 50th BD. I think it's quite utilitarian and I pack it once in a while. Often I wear it when out shooting rifles just to have a belt gun handy.

I have a set of nice combat K-frame grips that I'm thinking of putting a revolver under. I'd love a nickle M10 but will inquire about the DAO M64s J&G has. Yes, just so I can use the grips :D

P.S. I'm moving to Texas and it's a shame they do not allow open handgun carry.

Sunday "go to meetin gun" a Kimber Ultra CDP with 3" barrel. .45 ACP of course. Other days a mod 66 snubbie or a Glock 30 SF, .45 ACP.

Now that I've fessed up, that 2 of my 3 carry guns are not S&W I hope I am not banned from the forum!! I have lots of other Smiths, some safe queens, and others I shoot frequently.

Please don't send me away!

(And I almost forgot that in the summer especially I will carry a J Frame in a pocket holster.)

my nickel model 36

I don't have any BBQ's to go to , but if I did, I would take my nickel m.36 with faux ivory grips and polished manganese bronze Tyler Tee; I think I want to add a tyler trigger shoe, can't decide between polished bronze or polished aluminum. Probably bronze.

Am camera shy, but certainly admire many that have appeared in these threads over the years. Especially Ivory and Engraving. Tooled Leather makes for a trifecta perfecta!

SP, that is a great gun and fine leather!

Dyson

I think it would be my Cobra with it's faux ivory finger groove combats. The contrast between the deep blue of the Cobra and the whiteness of the grips is very striking.

Mine would be the model 19 from my avatar scratched up a little and with some 'Executioner' stocks. Don't tell the wife on me now....

Cocked And Locked- the stag on that 15-4 is just stunning against the nickel...two thumbs up! And for all of the pictures on this thread, very entertaining and pleasing to see.

Now I'm ashamed to show my idea of good BBQ to the crowd now. It was my smith 1911PD with some after market grips.
