Be Right, Be Right, BE RIGHT!!

Long time friend was LEO in a well know coastal town. He was off one day walking out to his mail box when a car came by and smashed his mail box with a bat. He knew his neighborhood had 1 way in and one way out so he waited by his mail box. Sure enough the car came back down the road. He pulled his badge out holding it at arms length for the car to stop. Well, driver tried to run him over. He jumped out of the way , pulled his pistol and shot the Back of the car. Turns out one of the punks in the car was a city councilman's son. He was fired and charged with some obscure misdemeanor. He was told he could not shoot at a vehicle once it passed him. Anyway, he moved and is doing fine now.
Didn't matter if it was Sammy Scroat, you can't stand in the road to try to force him to stop, then use 'he tried to hit me' to justify deadly force. Nor can you shoot fleeing misdemeants. Anywhere.

Sad but things happen in the heat of the moment.

Don't be a monday morning quaterback and believe everything you read.
I you ever are unfortunate and get directly involved then speak from 1st hand knowledge.
A jury determines your guilt not the court of public opinion or press clippings.

I'll go ahead and Monday morning quarter back the killing of an innocent nine year old, just as you're free to go to bat for the guy. Talk or not, he messed up in a major way and killed an innocent. I've got absolutely no sympathy for all these idiots who shoot at something or somebody they don't need to and get an innocent killed in the process.

In this case, an innocent child is dead, and the person who pulled the trigger needs to be held to account. Matters not what the judicial outcome is, that is indisputable fact.

I agree 100 percent. Now the BUT. You have to wonder what personnel hell he is going through because he killed an innocent child. I know full well the hell I went through, and that child was not an innocent. He tried to kill me. Yes, it was in VN but does that really matter where or when? Also a 9 yo child, or so I believed when looking at him, after a .45 opened up his chest. Even today, thinking back on it, I feel the guilt. I know it'll never go away.

All the more reason why the person who shot the 9 year old in this article should have been more careful. And, for each of us, a reminder that we are responsible for every round we fire.

Praying that you will find relief for your guilt.
