At first, I thought this about the dog that is staying in my yard.
In other news, all I can think about my friend who got drunk in Alaska, and took off to look at bear cubs, and got chased back to camp by an angry mother bear. If she had been any drunker or slower, I'd never have heard that story.
But knowing my friend, the bear would have gotten a public intoxication citation after eating her.

I was thinking it was about time for another bear story. I thought you were suppose to make noise in bear country so you didn't surprise the bears and have this happen. You can't blame the bear for wanting to defend her cubs but you hate to hear about someone being killed either. I wander if they had any protection such as pepper spray or something.
I got a kick out of the Yellowstone officials playing it down by saying is was the first human fatality since the 1980s. That has to be comforting to the man that was killed.
Just how close does one have to be before a bear attacks?

Ms. Bear should have mildly chloroformed her cubs and left them at home if Ms. bear wanted to go out messing around. I guess Ms. bear isn't up on the latest child care techniques.
I wonder if this is about the same bear attack.
If so, someone didn't get the first story straight.

I found some more - Not the same bear attack. This bear was captured 30JUL10.
Wildlife officials said it was the worst attack since the 1980s.
They seem to say that a lot.

Just the thing if you are ever attacked by a bear fetus but if you are attacked by a full grown bear consider throwing it at the bear. He might use it for a chew toy instead of you
Perhaps Sebago Son might have something to add. I hear that he once scalped a grizzly and pulled it's teeth before turning the bear loose

Just back from Cody and Yellowstone recently. There was certainly no shortage of bear warnings there. Lots of places advertizing Bear Spray. Friends there say there are more Grizzleys now than ever before. They consider the spray as worthless.

They're just not using it correctly. Correct delivery involves putting a couple of drops on the end of a 12 gauge slug, then shooting the bear with said slug.
