I'm selling this Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor in 45/70. Its in excellent condition, even better than the pics show. Its an antique so it can ship directly to you, I will just ask for proof that you're 18+.
The stock is really gorgeous and the bluing is largely intact, starting towards a brown patina now but still lots of blue. The breechblock still has a touch of case color to it as well.
No cracks or issues with the stock and the inspector cartouche is still visible as you can see in the pics. It looks like either 1886 or 1888 but 1886 would be right for the s/n production year.
Someone way back in the day shaved a silver dime to fashion a new front sight blade for it. It was pretty common back then, I've got an old Marlin lever gun from the 20s with one as well. Its tall enough so you can actually be on target at less than 300 yards easily. I had no problem sighting it in on paper at 50yds and then plinking steel plates at 100yds. with it.
The bore is nice and bright/shiny with very good rifling. Its pretty accurate for a trapdoor, I was actually getting a decent grouping @50yds.
The full album of pics including bore is here:1884 TD - Google Photos
Price is $1200/obo. I will be crossposting elsewhere so first I'll take it in the thread followed by PM wins.
I can accept venmo, zelle, PP friends&fam or you cover the fee if you use goods & services. Paper payment methods also accepted. No trades thanks.
