Been playing catch up...

First quarter of the year I got SLAMMED with orders that this little guy thought he was ready for. Fast forward to today and I'm just now getting dug out All of these rigs went to forum members who were very patient with me, I can say I was happy with every one that left my door though.

This first rig for Jon was made for a K-22 6", with mine sporting the leather. It's 7/8 oz veg tan with a 2/3 oz pig skin lining and a 6/7 oz welt, a matching leatherman pouch, and a little 22lr 'bookmark' as my girlfriend calls it. The belt, like all my belts, is a 7/8 oz face with a 6/7 oz natural liner.

This next one is for a 6.5" N-frame, a Model 57 no less. My customer Ron waffled on whether or not to line it and after lining my first holster with two layers of veg tan I told him that's how I was going to build it. The 'lock' I'm getting out of holsters in this style is far superior to a single thicker layer of leather. The holster is a layer of 6/7 and a layer of 3/4 with a 7/8oz welt, and the belt is my standard. The dump pouches are for 41 Rem Mag.

This last rig is one of my favorites. After the order was placed I sent Eric an email with one recently completed, he was so torn of which style he liked most I told him I'd just make both. The holsters are for a 6.5" Model 24, both made with 2 layers of 4/5 oz and a 7/8 welt, one with a dump pouch for 44 Special and the other with a quick release reload. I like it so much I'm tempted to loose 3" of my waist and wear it......I might get mugged though I have my 4" 57 and 3" 24-3 posing for pictures since I don't have a long snout.

So there you have it. Three rigs that are essentially the same, but all different and unique in their own right. I tell you folks one thing is for sure....I'm ready for some non tooled work to come my way!!!!

nice work, my dad used to do leather work. i never had a belt or sling from a store. my wife has a nice purse in the closet that i had him make as a christmas present in the mid to late '90s. i believe it was the last thing he made as people quit buying stuff

one thing that surprises me is that, even though he had made holsters for other people, he never made one for his 586. i guess because it spent it's life in the box may be why.

i miss the smell of the leather, the tap of the mallet after he repositioned what ever stamp he may be using, seeing the freshly dyed piece put up to dry...dad's gone now, his leather tools are still there. i have often thought about getting them for my own use...but it would be just another hobby that i don't have time for...

should i ever decide to buy a good holster for that old 586, i know who to look up...

I can't speak for others but I don't have time to make rigs for myself. I have one I made, all the pieces less the belt were prototypes that just worked out. I remember the first belt rig I made was for a 586. I thought I was making a killing at $145......

Thanks! Part of what I enjoy is that all of my materials are made in the US, even though small scale I like to think I'm doing something. It's also instant gratification on projects - their either good or their fed to the dog
