Before you shoot?

Ok guys what do you do to your new revolver before you shoot it for the first time? I am familiar with the semi autos but revolvers are new to me.

At the least, clean the chambers and barrel to insure that they're not contaminated with any "factory crud", which might damage the gun if it's fired with cutting oil, metal shavings, etc., which are occassionaly present in brand new guns.

If it's brand new, I just wipe it down with Eezox, clean the bore and chambers. I don't remove the sideplate unless it seems like there's manufacturing oil or grease in there. I usually just remove the grips and blow the action out with action blaster.

I remove the sideplates on all my used S&W's when I first get them, you never know what someone else did to them or lubed them with.

I clean the barrel and chambers and then lube the star or ratchet. Sometimes I take the sideplate off and check it over lube as necessary.

Clean it all out, oil it in all the right places, then shoot the heck out of it!

I clean it, inside and out. I might lighten the trigger pull by changing a spring. Then I apply oil to the action. New revolvers are shipped dry.
