Greetings and Salutations to my fellow gun enthusiasts.
Since most of my searches seem to come here it seemed fitting to finally join the group.
Long time owner of a Model 459 I've often though of adding a single stack version as the wife doesn't much like the fat double stack. Brushing up on the California gun law changes and finding I'm locked out of what I was shopping for (439) except PPT I'd all but given up acquiring a matching metal single stack 9mm S&W.
Something clicked in my head a few days ago with respect to the 50 year old Curio-Relic classification and I realized the early Model 39s are exempt from the Safe Gun list I have to abide by if I deal through a FFL as I'll need to if I import an out of state gun off say gun broker for a 439 or a series three 9mm.
So a listing of the ideal range of numbers on the Model 39 that are past 50 years old is my main goal. Bit and pieces I've found lead me to think somewhere in the high 70XXX or low 80XXX is the safe range of over the line guns shipped before July 15th 1968.
Current auction 39 no dash guns I find are 82XXX and 88XXX and I won't bid until I'm sure it's old enough.
Enough for a first post as it got a bit more long winded then I wanted so I'll slide over to the Early SemiAuto threads and read a while.
