I'm looking into these for times when I can't wear a gun belt.

What experiences do you guys/ girls have with the many various types and which would you recommend. My usual carries are a FS 40 and a shield 40.

Thanks in advance

I've tried a variety of the belly band style holsters and never found any that I could tolerate for more than an hour. They are particularly uncomfortable in warm weather so I just gave up on them all together.

In cooler Ohio weather, I and my wife have used them with a sweater or sweat shirt over it. One day, all day I carried 2 Sig 220's (there was a bump beside my heart) and I had a friend give me the once over, mentioned the bump, next week we decided on a J-frame for a bug, then drove all over Amish country. Wife carries Glock 19 in hers, and wears it inside out, for left handed use. Between us we have 3 brands, I haven't found a lot of difference. Ivan

Of all the different carry modes I use three.

1. IWB Milt Sparks with my J frame
2. Bianchi 9R for the J frame
3. Pocket carry for the J
OWB for K/L frames on occasion. [Simply Rugged]
The belly bands are hot.
The T shirt type flop about and are uncomfortable.
Ankle rigs don't work with boots.

This is my opinion and we all are different.

My EDC is a 637 airweight, and it rides in a Kangaroo Carry Standard II holster, which is not really a belly band, more like the upper torso. If you set it up properly, you get used to it quickly, and it's easily concealed. I'm planning on getting another and setting it up for my Sig P938. Check them out Kangaroo Carry

Hi:
The secret is wear a t-shirt/undershirt between the belly band and your skin. Small light weight pistols/revolvers work best. On Duty I used a belly band over my bullet resistant vest and under my uniform shirt. Normally I carried a "J" frame but also used a Sig P-239 .40.

I do not own either one of your carry guns so I can't comment on those in particular....... but my Summer carry option is Pocket Carry with a M60-7. For a bit over $20 Bucks, you can get a DeSantis Nemesis Holster and try it. Ankle & Belly Band carry are OK for SHORT periods, but certainly neither is fast, comfortable or convenient IMHO.

I got this belly band on Amazon and it has been great so far. Search: New Black Concealed Belly Band Holster Medium Size for Waist 30" to 38"

I routinely use a Galco belly band with a variety of guns. I agree with Jimmy to always wear an undershirt beneath it. I prefer a belt holster when I can, but the belly band is the only option I've found that works with scrub pants and top...so that's what I use when I'm at work

The belly band is a great option. The question is whether it's better and more reliable to go belly band versus slipping the pistol in a front pocket!?
I carry my Charter Arms in a front pocket all the time...

It all depends on the belly band. I used to use a Bianchi, which was adequate for small pistols but not really that comfortable. Last summer I bought a cheap one as I was traveling and had to wear a tux for an event. I was carrying an M&P 45 FS and it wasn't all that comfortable or practical. I also had an extra mag in the band. Crossbreed makes one now that has Velcro attachments for holsters and accessories. It looks promising, but I haven't actually seen one. Anyway, you need to shop around. Galco also makes one that seems sturdy and has been around for a while. I think BBs work fine for smaller pistols up to baby Glock or snub revolver-sized pistols. Anything heavier weights them down and causes them to slip down after a while.

I will be ordering the Kangaroo Carry I've been talking about getting for a while next time I get paid. Good to hear about someone using it regularly. My 640 38spl will reside in it often I'm hoping. I have gotten back to carrying every day and it will be good to have another option.

Stay safe, John

Might try Smart Carry holster it works well with any type of clothing.

I have a Crossbreed belly band and it works great. I carry a XD9sc. 4" wide seems to be just right and plenty of the male and female Velcro to provide a safe and stable closure around your waist. The ambi designed mount for the holster is the best part of the whole rig. You can position your matching Velcro holster any way you like. There are also sewn in pockets for mags and a phone.
