So I have an old circa 1994 beretta 92g. Accuracy was nothing special so I replaced the recoil spring (factory 13 lbs). I shot from the bench about 2 boxes of American eagle 124 grain with point of aim at the top of a 3 inch bull and point of impact was 5 inches low. Since the beretta has fixed sights I figure I need to tweak the ammo. So, so I try 115 grain or 147? Thanks"

My Beretta92FS isn't the most accurate one around. Shoots more like patterns than groups. Slugged the barrel and .357 was what I came up with. Found some 125 grain remington softpoints that miked at .357 that and some HS-6 gave much better accuracy. The REMUMC stuff cost me a firing fin. Seems I had one get the primer punctured and the pin got a big divot from the gas cutting the metal. Didn't realize this was going on and only found out when I started picking up the spent brass. So now I keep a new pin annd spring on hand but don't shoot the REM-UMC anymore. Frank

My mid 80's vintage 92 FS is not super accurate but does shoot to point of aim with most 124gr loads,Might try the 115's I seem to remember mine shooting high with the 115 loads.

Over a period of many years shooting a variety of semi autos in 32 acp,
380 acp and 9 mm with fixed sights I can't recall one that shot low
with standard FMJ ammo. Shooting a little bit high seems to be the
norm with centerfire autos it seems to me. I assume you're using the
standard sight alignment of the top of the front sight even with the
top of the rear sight? The AE ammo you're using is likely very lightly
loaded. If I were you the first thing I would try would be some hotter
ammo, maybe Nato spec loads. If you have to you could always zero
with 115 gr or 124 gr ammo of your choice by filing down the front
sight.

Your pistol should shoot a bit higher with 147s, if everything else is equal. Have you checked your trigger control (watching your sights while dry-firing)?

You need a heavier, slower......

You need a heavier, slower bullet. It's counter intuitive, but a slower bullet stays in the barrel longer and allows the barrel to rise more. Faster, lighter bullets have little barrel dwell time and the gun doesn't have time to rise before it exits and shoots lower. This is discussed on the Reloading thread OFTEN. One thing I like about reloading is that I can make any load I want to and you can tailor them to your gun. The cue here for anybody interested is to START RELOADING YOURSELF.:D

Try out the heavier bullet and let us know what happens.

First Sergeant,

All good gouge. I would also submit that your Beretta would greatly benefit with a new Gen 3 locking block. The Beretta locks up by one thing: The Locking block.

Contact WAL at the Beretta Forum. If you send him your barrel, he'll fit a new one for you. WAL is "Mr. Beretta". He will explain that in a stock Beretta, a new locking block will solve much in the way of accuracy issues.

I've found that the 124gr Fiocchi will group into an inch with all of my Berettas. Not sure why, but its good stuff.

Hope this helps!
