Been waiting around for my Shield 9mm to come in. In the mean time been looking around at other 9mm CCW handguns. Springfield XDS and the Beretta Nano 9mm. Looks like the XDS may not get back on the shelves until October...or later..who knows. Any comments on the Nano 9mm? Really clean looking gun with nothing to snag coming out of pocket or IWB.

I played around with a Nano a few weeks ago. Didn't like the feel.

Also, there is no slide release, which seems odd to me. I know some folks who don't have issue with it, but it just didn't "feel" right for me.

I was researching these recently, and came across a number of articles and posts on forums with folks having issues with FTE using various brands of 124 grain. Again, might have been an issue to a certain mfg date range, while others may never fire 124 gr.

For me, it wasn't originally in my top 3-4 CCWs, and after handing it, seeing the issues online about FTEs and the slide release item, it just turned me off completely.

So, to be fair, I was already thinking "no", so I went in moderately biased, and a few negatives, at least to me, killed it.

Had a Nano, sold it. Felt like a brick with a trigger and looked almost as good.

I'd hold out for the Shield. If you want a stop-gap in the meantime I'd look at the Kahr CM9. Still have mine and it's way better than the Block O' Nano...

But...my question is...why are you waiting for a Shield? They're everywhere now. Is the delay with your preferred dealer? If so, I'd go elsewhere...

I have Nano and love it. I was carrying MP9c and now pack the Nano. So much more comfortable. It has a long trigger but it is smooth and does not stack. Very accurate at reasonable SD distance. It is a excellent buy IMHO.

I carry the Nano just about every day (weekends I go with my m&p 40). It's a comfortable carry, well balanced, and an accurate shot. It took about 400 break in rounds to be carry-worthy and hasn't had even one malfunction.

I like mine, but I'm curious why you would get something else if you want a Shield? I got a Nano because I'm left handed and didn't want a frame safety (yeah, I know it can be left off, that's just not my choice) and wanted to be able to reverse the magazine release. Otherwise, I probably would have gotten the Shield originally - I just wish they were more like my M&P9C. If you're looking for the Smith, it seems like the availability of Shields has improved recently.

I'll take my Shield anytime. I find the Nano to be intolerably UGLY! LOL, but then, so is a Glock (although not as ugly as I once thought). I guess they grew on me. The only way I can see a Nano growing on me would be if it was a wart.

My wife looked at the nano and decided on a shield like me..
I disliked the nano for lack of slide lock other than the empty magazine she disliked the feel and trigger.
Id pass on it and find a shield.

I have over 1,000 trouble free rounds through my Nano and love it. It fits my hand well, points well, and has a nice trigger. It pocket carries nicely for me. I like the clean no-snag exterior. Fortunately, I have not been forced to a one or another decision between it and the Shield. So much comes down to personal preference. At lease the Nano is an accurate, reliable pocket pistol worthy of consideration.

You say that the Shield is everywhere, were do you live? Here in Northern Illinois they are still scarce, I have seen 1 in 40 cal.

I have a Nano and it's my primary carry until I break-in my Shield. It's a great gun and has worked flawlessly. I have around 900 rounds through her and had 3 FTE's because I limp wristed more than likely. I didn't expect to get the Shield but a post-recall one showed up and I had to pick it up. I'm a Nano Fan!!! But have always wanted a Shield but they were hard to find. Now I have both.

I'm adding another post because I just shot my post-recall Shield 9mm and I'd suggest waiting to get one, unless you want to spend $$ on another BUG...The Shield will be replacing my Nano as the primary carry!! I LOVE HER!! She feels great and shoots more accurate than my Nano...Just thought I'd share what I experienced and will be doing...
