The PX4 Storm Special Duty in .45 ACP was Beretta's entry in the 2005 USSOCOM Joint Combat Pistol trial.

Came from the factory with an extended 4.5 inch barre. It was originally for the ability to mount a suppressor. But Beretta, wanting to keep it legal in as many markets as possible, didn't thread the commercial released barrel.

Beretta showing off one of the JCP trial gus at the 2011 NDIA Infantry Small Arms Systems Symposium. It was converted to a "D" setup, as a DAO gun.

I ordered a regular 4 inch barrel for it since I don't ever intend to suppress the gun.

You can change it from a safety/decocker "F" gun to a decocker only "G" but just removing a ball bearing in the safety.

I got mine used, paid far less than what they go for back in 2018. It is a great shooter.

I have one in 9mm. I like it. Wish it took 92 mags but that's really my only complaint.

I get it, I have over 100 Beretta 92 mags and a pile of Beretta 92 pistols. I always was interested in the 9mm PX4, but when the SD came up a few years back, I snagged that one instead. Since .45 ACP pistols from Beretta aren't exactly common to begin with. So, not having the gun run off 92/96 pattern mags isn't a problem for it being in .45 ACP.

Does it have that really soft recoil characteristic of rotating barrel guns? I have a Mauser M2 in 45, and it is like shooting the average modern 9mm.

Man, I haven't heard or thought of the Mauser M2 guns in a while. Yeah, the rotating barrel really reduces the felt recoil. Very soft shooting gun.
