I was curious what everyone uses in a 10MM HP. Do you prefer 180GR bullets, 165GR, or even lighter? I know it depends on what the application is, so I'm curious to see what bullets/loads you use for different applications, i.e. woods, CCW, home defense, etc.

I use 180 grn Golden Sabers if I can find them. Very effective on predators, pests, injured deer and antelope and a road injured 800 pound heifer.

If they will take those critters down, they'll spoil a BG's whole day too.

My Delta Elite seems to like the 150 gr more, so I go with those. I think 180 gr can perform extremely well also, perhaps it's a little like the difference between 115 and 124 gr in 9mm. Both are good.

Been using 175 Silvertips for everything since the dark ages.

165 Gr. Golden Sabers at 1350 - 1400 for urban applications.
180 Gr. XTP (tough bullet) for 4 - legged critters typically.
180 - 200 Gr. Hard Cast if hunting or expecting large, tough hides that need immediate down putting.

Although I have developed a 155 Gr. XTP hand load clocking an average 1565FPS! That may very well be my next urban load.

A 10mm is one of my favorite calibers. I'm interested in your 155 gr. load. Do you get good accuracy out of it? Or does the shock wave just knock 'em down? :D

It depends on which gun I am using.

The Delta Elite gets a steady diet of Winchester Silvertips while the 610 gets a steady diet of 180g Double Tap loaded up with Golden Saber bullets.

I will be loading my own soon so am hoping to reach a middle of the road between the two loads that will work well but not batter the Delta Elite.

The shockwave blows the target off the stand! (j/k :D) It's an accurate load. I got about 2.5" at 25 yards. I fired from a Tanfoglio Witness Match 4.75".
The load was developed using AA#7, great powder for 10MM BTW.
PM me if you want the specific recipe I used.

I agree, it's a great caliber.

10mm loads

For personal protection, Cor-Bon makes good, 135grain JHP traveling at something like 1440 FPS. And does not kick bad at all compared to any other 10mm load. Actually I could not tell the difference and I shoot a lot. My favorite book on handgun stopping power ranks this load the highest for stopping power of humans; in 10mm. Something like a 90% One Shot Stop statistic based on real street fights (shootings) For Bear Defense and Lions, I prefer the Gold Dot HP (bonded) 180grain with 10.5 grains of Blue Dot (hand load) pushing 1220 fps. Due to the penetration, permanent wound channel and temporary stretch cavity it produces. I Really like Hydra Shok too at around 950-1200 fps depending on load, also in 180 grain. Another favorite is the Golden Sabre, 180grain. I also like the 155 grain Gold Dot loads for personal protection or self defense against animals. But those are hard to find manufactured in a factory. The 10mm is a very versatile caliber especially if you hand load. My favorite Hand Load is the 180grain Gold Dot HP, with 10.5grains of blue dot. Why because where else can you get that load? Advice on hand loads are make sure you have the C.O.L. Correct and the correct powder matched to the correct bullet and bullet weight.

I purchased my 10mm this year so I haven't had a chance to take it hunting but I will be using the 175gr Silvertip with which I have been able to get sub 3" groups off of a field rest at 50 yards. I haven't chronoed the load, but according to what I've read online it doesn't reach the power level that they claim. More like 560fpe instead of 650fpe. I have about 100 rnds of it, but the Corbon 180 looks interesting though it's $40/20.

Another plug for the 175gr Winchester Silvertip. My favorite all-around load for my Delta Elite. For home protection however, I still have a box of 155gr Federal JHPs. These supposedly launch out at 1500+ fps out of a 5 inch barrel. Don't know if Federal makes these any more, but it's a great PD load.

10mm

I should make mention that the G20 feeds anything I've ever put through it. All weights and types. I do not recall any jams. Ever. Another pro, I have seen several game animals go down after exactly one shot. I have never had to shoot a game animal more than once. They drop like a rock. I usually shoot factory ammo, but I have never had jams with Hand loads yet. I only have shot a hand full of hand loads so far. Very exciting firearm to own. Loads that I recommend preceeding this comment are geared toward this model.

I use mostly 180 grain bullets, Speer GDHPs and Rainier.

I divide my loading into two catagories, Norma and FBI. The Norma stuff, (loaded by me but high pressure) I use in my Kimber 1911 and 10xxs, the FBI goes into the Delta Elite and an EAA Witness, which is a nice gun but not up to 10mm pressures I don't think.
