Back in after 10....... still my first year 3913NL 90% of the time w/ the flush fit 7rd magazine from the LadySmith model...... or a PC Shorty-9 (I got in 1996) when I want higher capacity.

See no reason to change

Like mbliss I had and found a 4516 too heavy for everyday carry..... switched to a 4516TSW but couldn't find enough 6round magazines to make me happy..... switched to a Sig 245.... which I still have, though I rarely carry a .45 these days.

As I've posted in many other threads..... I've found that new doesn't mean better...... just new!

I have been carrying the 3913 since I bought it last year. It does everything I need in an off duty pistol, and is not made of plastic.

At present, the 915

I'm with you.

Compared to the 3913, the 915 is 1/2 inch longer and 3.7oz heavier.

With one in the pipe, the 3913 holds 9rds. The 915 holds 16.

For the slight difference in length and weight, I'll happily carry the 915 with 7 more rounds.

915s are my favorite full size Smith 9mm...... check out Meggar they make some nice flush fit 17 and 20 round mags for the 915/59xx guns.

For concealed carry in the Burbs of the Burgh 3913..... 7+1 +8 is GTG most days...... SHTF days..... 915 or Beretta 92 Centurion.

10 years old thread? Sheeesh. I didn't discover S&W 3rd gen autos until 3 years ago.
But I vote 3953.

I just updated my 3913 with fiber optic front sight to help my old eyes and has been my summer carry for many years. However my newly acquired 5903 SSV has become the new summer carry in a lot of situations. Winter carry has been updated from 4566/4006 to a M&P 2.0 5" 9mm. I tried to replace the 3913 with a Shield and a M&P Compact 2.0 but the 3913 still shot better.

I'm on board with this one too.

I post too much about mine, but I love it.

Yes, technically it isn't really a 915 anymore since it's just a 915 frame with other odds and ends thrown in. But the full size aluminum frame/stainless steel slide and associated parts are just heaven in the third gen platform, for shooting and carrying.

My obsession will never waver. I only regret not buying one sooner and not having more.

Edit: I use the fantastic Mec-Gar 17 round mags, giving me 18 total if fully topped off.

I've got a 3913 LS, but the one I really like shooting is one of the "N.P.D." 3953 pistols. In response to the original question, I think the 3953 is the one I would carry just because of that amount of practice with it.

4040PD

I voted 3913 because I carry it in the cooler weather,
But,
I would have voted for the 4040PD because it's the same gun in .40 S&W

I agree completely. Carried a 3914 (stripped 3913) since they first arrived. Purchased a just out 4040Pd for the same reason, exact dimensions in 40 cal.

Light, well made, beautiful, fits my hand perfectly.....and powerful. Jim
