Just now getting back into shooting, just looking for ideas on ammo for my 15-22 and sport. Bulk 22lrs, or just stick with mini-mags ? Bulk .223 or 5.56, heard steel case ammo is not that great or reliable. thanks for the your input,

You will find much more information on the M&P 15-22 .22ammo in the S&W 15-22 in the sub-section on this forum. Look under Smith & Wesson Long Guns section. There is a ton of info there.

I bought three of the MP-15's when they were still new to the market, all three were broken in with cheapo Tula steel-cased ammo, and all three chewed through about a thousand rounds each with ZERO issues. I sold two of the rifles, kept the one with the best trigger (which I eventually replaced anyway) and now have around 5K rounds through it, about 90% of which has been steel-cased stuff, the rest was handloads.

Now is a good time to stock up on ammo, I've been buying 1,000-round cases for around $200 + shipping, but there are some even better deals out there lately. Shop around!

My MP-15's have been through a few dozen iterations, playing with combos of lights, scopes, red dots, you name it. This is the Final Version, I'm done screwing around with it. Really! This time I mean it.

There are 3+ ammo threads in the 15-22 forum, but to summarize:

Everyone's gun is a little different, You'll have to see what cycles and groups best in yours.

The reigning champs are CCI (MiniMags, Blazer, Tactical) and Federal Bulk.

Load up on Tul Ammo at Wally World. The sport has not problem digesting cheap steel cased ammo without any noticeable loss of accuracy. $4.99 a box.
