Yeah, I know it's a shameless copycat of the "Worst Auto" thread, but I'm a revolver snob. Anyway, I own and have carried many autos despite that and want to hear what you guys & gals hold in esteem for self loaders.

Several colt governments, combat commander, gold cup, kimber custom, springfield custom, ruger mark III. All reliable and accurate.

A West German Sig P228 & a Czech CZ75D-PCR are the top of the heap. Both guns make me a better shot than I usually am.

Next level down: a CS-9.

I'm quite fond of my Ruger SR9. 3k rounds later and still no problems. I've shot more expensive models but prefer the Ruger, it just feels right to me.

SIG 228

I've carried a pair of west german P228's in high threat potential bodyguard assignments back in the mid 80's and early 90's. Excellent pistols overall, still have one of them but it rarely leaves the safe. It is one of my "grab and run" guns, along with 6 loaded mags. This one has been rebuilt/refurbished by SIG and is about as reliable as my Colt 1911 and 1911-A1. Both of those are all military original and haven't choked or puked once in over 40 years...not once with any combination of ammo.

I alway's disliked the stock factory grips on the SIG 228, does anyone craft a good quality walnut stock for them?

My other two faves are 70 Series Colt Combat Commaders in .45 ACP, I carry those two when I'm feeling nervous.....or can't lay my hands on a Remington 870, real quick.

The Beretta 92FS because it is so accurate. I'm almost intuitive with it when aiming. I can't match the accuracy with any of my other pistols.

Only had a few but i really like my Kimber custom 1911.
Reliable and shoots great, better than i can shoot it.

My Czechoslovakian made CZ75. Accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot. A plus is the Kadet kit to play with 22LRs sometimes.

Close followup would be the German made SIG P220.

My favorite auto pistol (and favorite gun period) is my Model 41. I'm pretty fond of a Colt Woodsman Match Target I got back in '85 and the Ruger Mark II that my Daddy bought me because he couldn't stomach me shooting that Match Target every weekend.

While I own a bunch of Colt 1911's my Favorite and most accurate is my 1974 produced Series 70 Gold Cup. A real tack driver and just a pleasure to shoot.

I have owned several reliable auto loaders. Deciding which was best is impossible. My Colt and S&W 1911 guns are right up at the top if the list. A Glock 22 is there as well.

I only have two, like you I'm a revolver guy. I have a 4516-1 and my wife a Colt Mustang Plus II. I do like both of them though, but don't see adding autos to my arsenal anytime soon.

Like most of the folks here, I really prefer revolvers. On the other hand, I'm really fond of this old fellow.

I don't know if it's my best semi automatic, it is my favorite though. S&W 1066.
