Nothing fits your hand quite as well as a Hi Power. JMB knew all about ergonomics long before anyone made a study of it. Put a S&W rear sight on one and you have a really nice auto.

My second gun, a BHP, until my agency sent us to training for the Glock.
My favoite is an old Colt Combat Commander (pre firing pin block) with fixed Novak sights and flat mainspring housing that's proved to be absolutely reliable and just seems to point better than any other I've owned. However awhile back I bought a CZ75B that I really like. I was shopping for a Hipower but checked out the CZ first. Now I'm no longer interested in the Hipower's.

Started off with the US M1911A-1 in the Army 44 years ago and never had reason to regret having one during two tours in Vietnam. Picked up my first Browning Hi Power while there and have had one ever since.
Transitioned to revolvers when I became a cop and carried them for 20 years. Working on higher risk assignments I relied on the Hi Power.
Have collected military 1911 and 1911A-1's for many years and have come back to that design for my daily carry needs (Kimber Custom CDP).
I will always have a Browning Hi Power, a 1911, my old Model 19's (6" and 2.5"), and my Model 34 Kit Gun. I would not feel unarmed with any of them, and long familiarity provide a confidence level that would take a lot of work to develop in any other piece.

Bought a new 41 about 2 years ago, most fun I have had shooting in years.
My first Glock, a model 21 in .45 acp. Once I got to 10,000 rds of my reloads w/o a hitch, I quit keeping track of the ammo count. This gun has yet to have any type of malfunction.
My Glock models 17, 19, 26, and 34 have all proven themselves as well. I don't have a round count on these models, but none of them have malfunctioned to date.
BTW, all of them are at least 10 years old.
My Colt 1911 XSE Government model has also been flawless. I was cautious about its reliability due to what you hear & read about 1911's needing lots of work to run correctly. I figured I would find out for myself. I got the gun home, and cleaned & lubed it. I then put various types of ammo through the gun until I hit the 1,000 round mark. At no time was the gun cleaned, or re-lubed during the firing of the 1,000 rounds which were fired over a span of a few months. The gun had absolutely 0 malfunctions.
My Glock models 17, 19, 26, and 34 have all proven themselves as well. I don't have a round count on these models, but none of them have malfunctioned to date.

This one has to be my favorite, I shoot it the best!
EDC for last 18 yrs. Shoot about 400 rds/yr through it. One stovepipe when my son was 6 and limpwristed it and one FTF (capgun sound) with crushed primer on a rd of WWB. I have no doubt I can draw and fire 12 rds without fail. Joe

When I'm on the farm always carry G23..yeah, I know just a Glock but that thing always goes bang and if it gets bumped or dirty don't really mind. Love the series 1 Kimber. New favorite is a 1956 Beretta 948

My loyal faithful Browning High Power that's been with me for 40 years. Close behind is the Armalite AR-24. Great gun, high quality, accurate, solid, reliable. Old school quality, forged steel. Also enjoy my Walther carry piece - PPS

When Springfield first started making 1911s, their first one was a fairly faithfull copy of a government 1911A1, similar to the one they started making again in recent times. That one went with me every time I went to the range no matter what I intended to shoot that day the Springfield got a few rounds through it. I have several Colts of various vintage including a GCNM, and some race guns, but the old warhorse is still my favorite. I bet I put 20 or 30 thousand rounds through it. I never had to replace any parts except for mag springs or mags. The parkerizing was pretty kaput. Not pretty, not very accurate, but went bang each and every time I pulled the go lever. Sadly, in a fit of insanity and wanting the funds for a new gun I sold it a couple of years ago. Worst gun mistake I ever made and I wish I had it back.

Swiss SIG P210 with factory heavy recoil spring; never jams, very accurate when I do my part. Sigarms P239 9mm, Glock 26 with Wolff recoil spring and rod, NY trigger. Being practically rustproof, small, accurate enough, dependable, the Glock gets carried the most. Larry

I've got three bottom feeders, all of them stellar.
A W. German Sig P220 that I've challenged since I bought it in 1987 with every and any bullet weight, configuration and composition and all loads from mouse fart to +P+. I do not recall a jam, FTF, FTRB. I point and click and it goes bang. Special note, this P220 saved myself and my family one dark and lonely night - no shots fired, everyone went home safe but the BG's sure didn't like the look of it. It also went with me to my wife's hospital after the Quake of 89 here in the S.F. Bay Area and stood guard until security relieved me that night with a big thanks from the doctors and nurses.
A Dan Wesson CBOB I found that is not only totally reliable, it's as accurate as the day is long. I had a Kimber that was unsatisfactory and sold it to get the CBOB for a straight across swap. I came out on the better end of that deal.
A Ruger Mk II. What can I say? This pistol has introduced a bunch of nuggets to the shooting world. I works every time the trigger is pulled and puts the bullet exactly where you point it. Only ammo it doesn't like is Remington, but that's not surprising since it's pretty much universally reviled.
Shoots WWB as a staple and loves it.
