What’s the best deal you’ve had lately?
Great unheard of cheap price for a great item?
19, 25, 27, 28, 29?? 53? 17? 48?
LGS or private sale?
What’s out there that can be picked up for a great deal these days?

I wouldn’t call it a bargain, but I recently got a Model 28-2, 4” in very good shape for $800. Out the door, at a small gun show.
First one I’ve seen in awhile…so I snagged it up.

Truckman picked up a nickle P and R 2.5" 19 with very nice elk bark heavy grips for a price I'll let you folks ask him for.
It used to be mine and I am the kind of person that will leave some money on the table in order to achieve my goal at the time, which was to cull some duplicates and others. :)

Two years ago, this 1973 model 58 for $800.
It was wearing a nice set of combat magnums which I sold
for $200.00.
Found the proper stocks on fleabay for $80.00.
So, $680.00 total.

It's true, you are a prince of a fellow, and I'll treasure this one at least until some smooth talkin' conman slicktalks me out of it...I'll add that the stags are Bigmtnman creations, and were included in the deal which culminated in my passing over a medium sized stack of C-notes...

The unlabeled crisp box was the result of a separate negotiation with another member here......Ben

This isn’t really an answer to the questions posed, but it brings to mind a realization that I had a couple of years ago; namely, that my definition of “bargain” has changed.

There was a time when I would consider a gun a “bargain” if it was priced below what I thought was “market value.”

As my collecting interest have gotten more specific—and the holes in my modest collection have become more difficult to fill—I now consider a gun a “bargain” if I find a gun I *really* want that is for sale at a price I can afford.

For example, if I were to come across a Registered Magnum for $2K it wouldn’t be a “bargain” for me, as I’m not particularly interested in such things. OTOH, if I were to find a nice Airweight Centennial from 1953 at that price I might break out in a happy dance.

But back to the original questions, I don’t think there is any secret to finding bargains apart from patience, keeping one’s eyes open, and having cash on-hand to pounce when the opportunity presents itself.

Got these deals

Gun show 19-3 with Herrett Jordan grips $350 - lots of bluing wear but locks tight a few year back
Red ramp white outline

18-2 from Cabelas of all places slight bluing wear ugly rubber grips which I replaced with another set of Herretts $350 about a year ago

19-3 with two sets of full Target grips used by a NYS Trooper way back in the day some bluing loss but a laser at the range no matter who shoots it $600
black ramp and rear sight

I put the original set back on and put the second set on the other 19-3 so I have a like pair of 19-3

My next trip to the range going to go full on Josey Wales at our steel targets two handed shooting :-)

Last month I picked up a Royal Hong Kong Police for $391. It’s stamped C&E (customs and excise). Pretty much as new condition. Haven’t shot it yet. Who knows if I ever will……. Oops! Just realized you said P&R. Oh well it was a good deal anyways

Great deal? Probably not. I picked-up this fairly clean 1980 66-1 for $599 last Wednesday. No box or original grips. That seems to be the going rate in my area of So. AZ for 66's.

I thought this 2008 67-6 at $499 was a better deal. Excellent+ condition with box.

Both will be shot tomorrow for the first time.

I hear that.
I r only been doing this since Jan, so all I have to go by is GB, True Value, Guns America and these forums.
I’m sure I’ve overpaid for some but also felt like I’ve got some pretty good deals too
