Does anybody make a paddle holster that will hold the grip of a J frame tight to the body. My Fobus hangs out a bit to much for my liking and I've read (here) where others have the same problem with various brands. Carrying IWB is getting uncomfortable and I need something that goes on/off in seconds vs minutes.

You should also take a look at the traditional pancake-style OWB holsters that attach with snaps instead of belt loops. They're just as quick as a paddle, but they're more secure and hold the gun in tighter.

For example, Lou Alessi was one of the first with his CQC/S, and Mitch Rosen copied the design with his Premier. Galco offers the Side Snap Scabbard. But most holster makers now offer this options for their OWBs.

For the best combination of quality, price, and waiting period, check out Lobo Gunleather's Model 1 SL: Lobo Gun Leather - Model 1-SL Pancake style with Snap-Loop belt attachment

The K&D Laredo Defender is also a good quality choice: http://www.kdholsters.com/iwb-owb-defend.php

+1 on the snaps...I had an Alessi CQC/S and it held the gun as close as any slotted pancake...check out the Lobo site....his is about 75 bucks cheaper and looks very nicely made.

The best "paddle" holster ever made was the Safariland clipspringer, now discontinued. Some other maker picked it up but didn't make it for nearly the number of models that Safariland had. The paddles being made now don't hold the gun tight enough and close enough for my taste. Go with some of the previous suggestions for a pancake style. Lots of great makers out there.

Ah, now that pancake with snaps looks interesting! Never saw one before. I think that's my answer.
Thanks much!

I like paddle holsters for range use, but they don't ride close enough for me to consider one for ccw. The pancake holsters are great for OWB ccw...I like the snap jobs.

Sold!

Just ordered a lined 1-LS from Ray over at Lobo. Ray was fast and curtious with communications and I thought the $65 price and 4-5 week wait were very reasonable for a custom holster. Thanks again for all the info! Looking forward to it's arrival!!

I'm sure you will love it...I recently traded my P7M8 for a P2000...luckily, it came with a snap holster....here's a pic (mine will be black)...

On sunny days I sometimes carry a J Frame in a Roy Baker Pancake Holster. The Baker Pancake Holster are great holsters if you can find them.

Kramer MSP not cheap but awesome holster. Have one for my 642 and Love it.

Thanks RAY!

Thanks to all who steered me towards a snap slide holster vs paddle. Special thanks to those who turned me on to Ray at Lobo leather.
Very special thanks to Ray for making me the perfect holster.
Ray made my holster in less time than quoted and it fits AWSOME. On and off fast, snug but not overly tight gun fit and it holds TIGHT to my body. I LOVE THIS THING!

We would love to see a picture of what you got.

I have not seen a paddle holster yet that doesn't suck.

They move about the belt and generally have poor retention ability, either on the belt or of the gun, or both. I also get to see broken paddle holsters on a regular basis.

The Fobus in particular is so bad that I banned it at my job for both duty and off-duty use.

Has anyone ever had experience with Kirkpatrick Leather mini paddle? holster. I remember my dad used to carry his model 60 in one similar to this when he was going to have to testify in court and didn't want to wear the whole duty belt. I've been looking for something like this for some time, but still need to know others opinions. Sorry can't post a picture. It can be found at Kirkpatrick Leather Holsters - Concealment Holsters, Western Holsters, Duty Holsters, 1911 Holsters, Concealment Holsters and More.
