I'm getting a couple of M&Ps, one in 9 and one in 45, and plan to have them sorted out professionally. I've seen and heard about several renowned smiths - Bowie Tactical, Apex and Gabe Suarez - each of whom advertises a very similar set of services and all claiming that they can significantly improve the function and especially the trigger of the gun. I'm looking for input from those that have first hand knowledge of the work these guys do. Please provide any/all comments that come to mind. Thanks.

I used Dan Burwell and was very happy with his work and turnaround time.

...of course, one of the great joys of the M&P's is that they are very easy to work on. Especially with Apex brand excellent drop in parts.

I may get flamed for this, but I think the S&W M&P pistol triggers are almost always pretty good right out of the box--that they are better than the Glock's and most Springfields--even better than the trigger on my Springfield Xdm, which is a pretty nice gun in and of itself.

I have seen a couple stock M&P's that had triggers that didn't feel like the the typical standard M&P, but that happens with gun companies--a small percentage just aren't quite 'up to par' to the norm for the series.

As someone said earlier, 'good' is a subjective issue and can be different for a lot of people. Personally, I don't like a really light trigger. I can empty a magazine pretty darn quick already--- my fingers are still fast. Sure the M&P's trigger can be modified for more smoothness, 'creep' and other characteristics, but personally, I don't feel a burning need.

I'll admit that most Sig Sauers have a nicer feel to their triggers to me and their higher end guns seem a bit more 'refined' if you will--sometimes the overall gun just feels better period (for a premium price), but I think it's hard to beat the standard M&P pistol OR their triggers for anywhere near the price they go for. I have more expensive guns that feel different, but I have no qualms about carrying an M&P or it being one of my favorites out on the range--it's comfortable in my hands, on my waist and I have never had any unpleasant surprises from one.

To me, it's a great gun, very sturdily built, that maybe other than adding some different sights, is a dandy right out of the box at a great price and will likely be handed down to my kids someday (even maybe their kids) and you can't say that about a lot of guns in it's price range.
