Been very impressed with the wealth of knowledge I've found on this and other forums, thank you!

Just got a new M&P340CT and am interested in your personal, firsthand experiences with pocket holsters.

I'm new to concealed carry and want something that:
- fulfills the law (doesn't print),
- protects the weapon (body and environmental moisture),
- works in anything from jeans to dress trousers to summer golf shorts and
- is easy to draw (stays in the pocket).
As a Vietnam combat Veteran, obviously performance is key. The last thing I want is to draw and have the weapon come out with the holster!

If I need different holsters for different pants, that's ok. Again, performance is key.

Thanks in advance!

As with any other method of carry, it comes down to personal preference. You have to try a few before you settle on one. That being said, the first suggestion that I would make is, the Desantis Nemesis. (N38BJN3Z0)They can be had for less than $25. I have a few others but, that is the one a use the most. I haven't found a pair of pants that doesn't work with that holster and, it does work with the CT grips. It is the only one that I've tried with the CT grips on a J frame. However, I think you'll find that a majority of pocket holsters will work with the Crimson trace grips. I don't own a set of CT grips but I have holstered M&P 340 with the grips installed in that particular holster.

Next up, the Galco "Pocket Protector," being leather it "bulges" more. But, with deep pockets, it's doable. It does take a few weeks to "break in" the gun tends to stick in the holster if, it hasn't been broken in. Again, if you have the right pants it works rather well. This one can be found for about $30.

Lastly, I have a front pocket holster from Alabama Holster Company. The draw is really smooth but, it is a kydex holster so it doesn't give/conform to your pocket as good as some. But again, if you have big enough pockets, it works exceptionally well. You really do good-sized pocket with that one, it takes up all of it.These holsters have about an eight week lead time, and you do have to specify for a round or square pocket. As well as, the laser grips. But, for the 40 bucks, a couple of these aren't bad to have around either.

Again, these are just my experiences/opinions with pocket carrying J-Frame revolvers. Your mileage might very.

Congratulations on your M&P340, and welcome to the Forum.:)

Thank you for your enlightening feedback!

It confirms what I've read here and on other forums so I'll certainly try the Desantis Nemesis. I've been looking at the Galco "Pocket Protector" and, based on your guidance, will likely give it a try.

What I found by trial and error (luckily low $ on ebay) is the following and hopefully will be useful to others.
(1) The Ace Case pocket holster seems to operate the best: stays in my pocket whether I'm wearing sweatpants, jeans or dress trousers and provides a quick, flawless draw. bigdaddyholsters is a very kind and ethical seller. Cost: less than $15.
(2) The Sticky Holster MD-5 is anything but. Unless I'm wearing jeans that used to fit a couple years ago, the holster easily comes out along with the weapon. Also in that scenario, it prints so badly a blind person would know I was carrying.

Thanks again!

Go to Walmart and get the "Size #3" pocket holster. No use in having a light gun, only to put it in a heavy holster.

You bet. I didn't like the Sticky Holster either. But, I gave it to a friend, and he likes it.
