Best Grips for J-Frame Pocket Carry

I’m old fashioned: I prefer magnas with a Tyler T for J frames carried in the pocket and for shooting J frames.

Doesn’t create additional width or length and doesn’t add the tackiness of the rubber grips.

Another vote for Spegel boot grips..... mine are checkered, no issues over the years.

Is that a set of high horn for the 640/centennial?

Another vote for the rubber uncle mikes boot grips that were standard in the 94-97 timeframe. I have them on my carry J’s. I also like rosewood boot grips by Esmeralda if I need to fancy it up for church or a BBQ, I keep a couple of J frames with these on them should the need arise.

The Pachmayr Guardian grip is pretty slick too. Small boot size but gets bigger as you grip the handle.

I just checked the rubber boot grip style grips on mu mod 36 and no identifiers on it. They came already installed on my m36. so who's they are remains a mystery. Sufficed to say I like them since they end up in my jeans pocket where they ride.Frank

I put an old pair of Ace boot grips (a company owned by S&W) on my
340. I also like Unkle Mikes boot grips.

For me, in order of preference, it’s:

1. Crimson Trace LG-405
2. Hogue Bantam Rubber
3. Eagle Secret Service
4. Uncle Mike’s Boot

In 25 years of J frame pocket and ankle carry, I’ve never had an issue of rubber grips catching on the fabric. My pocket and ankle holsters let me get a full grip before I draw.

Eagle Secret Service… extremely smooth and look and feel great.

I have no experience with the Hogue G10 but can recommend the VZ G10, the Eagle Secret Service (smooth or checkered) or if you can find the the Precision Specialties “hideout” grips. You could always treat yourself and your pocket to a set of BigMtnMan stocks and throw on a BK grip adapter.

S&W banana grips, no finger grooves and a section of bicycle inner tube over them. The banana grips are longer but I can still pocket carry if I choose. I refuse to 2 finger grip any weapon, especially an Airweight.

I just use the standard small rubber grip - except in one case I replaced it with the same thing in pink.

Is that a set of high horn for the 640/centennial?

Craig makes both kinds/styles of high horns - Centennial and Bodyguard - they are different - and these are Bodyguard for sure. I've got another set of Centennials I got within the past year, one of these days I'll mount them to my only Centennial - a M442 - and post a pic.... All are works of art... :)

I just got rid of my 360 for a 66, but I went through a couple grips and only ever pocket carried it. My favorite set were VZ G10's.

I have Herrett shooting aces on 2 of my j frames and on 2 colt snubs.I pocket carry 90 percent of the time and they have worked great for me.

I replaced the OEM Hogue grips when they delaminated with Hogue Bantam "Piranha" grips. They are checkered G-10, and give the feel and texture of wood grips.

Are fine in the pocket or appendix, even against bare skin (for me).

Got mine on amazon.com and really like them. Perfect fit. (Comes with a screw in the package to replace the OEM grip screw.)
