Just curious how big and what brand of range bags most guys use and how many pistols you cary at a time. Do you prefer soft or hard sided. I have 2 revolvers and 3 auto's and sometimes cary 3 or 4 at a time and was looking for one bag to consolidate items thats not going to cost a fortune.

I have MidwayUSA's large range bag; it lists for $59.99 but goes on sale for $39.99. For airline travel, I have a locking hard case that holds 2 handguns.

The Midway one is good. But I actually like a big tool box I got from Wal Mart for cheap. It can hold pistols, ammo, chronograph, lots of different stuff depending on what's going to the range that day.

Another vote for the Midway large bag. This is by far the best bag I have ever owned. Lots of storage pockets for all those odds and ends like a small tool set, "eyes and ears", range cleaning kit, spare mags, binocs, memo pads and pens/markers, etc. The removable handgun pouches are a plus. IMO you won't find a better more useful bag for the money anywhere.

I second the Midway Competition range bag. There is nothing that compares to it for less than $100! Actually it is on sale now.

Check this one out...

I just got this from SG and I absolutely love it. I chose the olive drab color. The bag is heavy duty, has a padded carry handle or you can use the shoulder strap. The outside pockets can hold rifle mags or in my case, all of my tools, cleaning supplies, safety gear etc. The inside has enough room for at least two padded, soft handgun cases and ammo and it has compartments on either side for other stuff. I went shooting yesterday and this is what I put inside. Besides all of my normal gear, I put in twelve packages of 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 ammo, a S&W 629 4'' in a padded case and two boxes of 44 magnum ammo. I could have gotten more ammo in there and probably another handgun case. I like it much better than my previous bag, which I must say, did yeoman duty for many years.

I like the sound of the Midway bag, but I've never seen one. I use an old "Super Deluxe Case by Pachmayr GUN WORKS, Los Angeles 15 Calif.". It is a navy blue, "back door", 4 gun model, with a scope mounted on the front door.

When I go to the range I fill it up. I'm like Miss Piggy of the Muppets, "Never eat any more than you can lift." When I load it with all I can carry, including ammo, etc., I'm ready to go. When I take the grandkids to the range, they carry extra ammo, targets, etc.

I use an old laptop bag, fasten holsters to the velcro strap that originally held the laptop in, my tools and cleaning kit go in one of the many zipper compartments, works out great and no one blinks an eye at someone carrying one.

Cheaper Than Dirt has a "bug-out bag" @ $19.95 or so, made by an outfit called Condor. I use one of these for each rifle and a GI tool bag for pistols. I don't take all that much out each time--usually one rifle and one pistol in additin to whatever I am wearing that day.

I have about three of these bags for myself and gave one to each of my kids, so I must like them.

Another vote for the Midway range bag here. There are more expensive bags out there, but in my opinion the Midway bag is the best bag for the money. I have had mine for about 3 years, and it gets used hard, usually a minimum of once a week, and it's still in near new condition.

Got a Winchester range bag at Wally World. Not fancy but it's functional and easily holds everything I need.

Big Lots is my friend. $9.00 I added a cardboard box for stability. :D

It holds 6 boxes of ammo, 2 firearms, my gray clipboard with targets in it, cigar box with cleaning stuff in the main compartment. Side pockets for hearing and eye protection and the front pocket for pad, tape, pen, and marker. :)

Is there a US-made range bag? I'd be interested in one that's been manufactured here.

ACE made in St Clair Mo. I carry up to 8 guns with ammo. Very heavy duty and functional. I like the magazine holder that comes out of the bag and can be stuck on the stall at the range. Paid $69 OTD at gun show. I just noticed it says it holds (3) pistols. It has holders for 3. I use ny rugs and can put 2 rugs in each side pocket 3 in the holders and 1 to 2 inside the center bag plus ammo, mags, ears, speed loaders, screw driver set. I usually have 6-7 with me when I go. Actually we, my wife comes too.

I use a CONVERSE brand gym bag. It has lots of pockets for ammo, mags, and whatever else I want to carry. I can carry several pistols in soft cases in it or a few hard cased pistols.
