Best S&W for concealed and carry

Just don't buy anything less than a .38 Special with +P ammo, or its equivalent. If you ever need it, and your life hangs in the balance, you'll wish you had at least an M16 with an Abrams tank to hide behind.

Forget what any one suggests. Get whatever is reliable, your confident and proficient with, and that you will actually carry. For me it's an m&p 9 compact for EDC or a j frame 642 when concealment is tough

What usually goes out the door with me is a J frame Airlight in 38 special. I have lots of others but thats the one I have come to prefer.

I would suggest the Model 60 Pro Series. It's a 3" J-frame in .357. It will shoot a vast range of ammo from mild to wild, so you should have no problem finding the perfect power level for self defense. It also has excellent wooden grips and is one of the best looking guns Smith makes.

Best S&W for concealed carry for a revolver is a 640/442/642 or those with
concealed hammers, Just my 2 cents worth.

When someone asks this question, the responses are usually promoting a gun the responder carries. And why not? Obviously it works for them. ;)

I like Steve in Vermont's answer. It makes sense to me anyway.

The OP is lucky that we have such a large selection of really nice guns that can be carried easily and are very reliable. It is up to each individual to select a gun they feel comfortable with and trust. That can only be done through practice. The posters here have given excellent starting points for your decision.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!
