Ar15discounts.com is pretty good too.

Honestly what I do whenever I want a part I try to find the UPC# or MPN and search it up on gun.deals. you can search by name and keywords too but UPC and MPN give the most accurate results.

OP, what exactly do you intend to upgrade and for what purpose?

For example, a 24” heavy barrel .204 Ruger would not be the optimum home defense setup; and a 16” LW barrel 7.62x39mm wouldn’t make a great prairie dog rifle.

Brownells is a reputable source, Midway is good (if pricey), +1 on Bravo Company, they are reputable, but don't always have inventory.

Be careful on amazon, you might wind up paying full price for a knock off.

Also check the vendor sites. Larue occasionally has sales on their high quality trigger groups.

You don't need to "upgrade" anything. Buy a sling, a carrying case, a scope or optic, and spend the rest on ammo. Disregard the c-r-a-p others have posted and the need to Gucci your AR. The M&P Sport is fine as it is. You haven't even shot it to it's full potential or put a significant amount of rounds through it to reach it's and your full potential before you're talking about wasting money on "upgrades." You want an upgrade? Buy more ammo and spend the "upgrade" money on training.

FYI: Our L.E. and American soldiers use and can shoot with standard milspec trigger ARs, AKs, Glocks, Sigs, Barletta, etc, yet the civilian market who mostly have never and will never see a day of combat or be in a life or death shootout a day in their life have been convinced by marketing that they require $100-$200 triggers and other junk on their guns to be absolutely survive a short 1st world shootout that that they'll statistically will never be in. The most shooting they'll realistically will ever do will be against stationary paper and steel targets, but I digress.

Practice ammo! Then Sighting system first, sling second, more magazines third.

If you are going to upgrade anything, start with the barrel then the bolt. Those are the heart of any rifle. Sons of Liberty Gun Works make a high quality, in spec bolt carrier group. Barrel choice all depends on what you want the rifle to do. Upgrade the trigger only if there is something significantly wrong with what you’ve got. A Streamlight weapon light if it is for home defense.

That said, here are two sources of quality aftermarket parts for an AR:
Weapon Outfitters
Primary Arms

MidwayUSA and Brownells of course

And for heavens sake don’t buy firearm parts off of Amazon!

Not knowing exactly which M&P you have, and your intended use, it's hard to tell if you need any upgrades. My former employer bought M&P15s as soon as they came out and they ran right with the Colt 6920s, if not better. Triggers were far more uniform and toward the low end of the specification. Ignore the "it's gotta be mil-spec" evangelists. Do buy "Gunsmithing the AR" by Patrick Sweeny.

I will note that the melonite interior barrel finish doesn't stand up to a lotta rapid fire like hard chrome. This is per the USAMTU. The $40 or so extra bucks for hard chrome bore & chamber coating is money well spent.

If you want to swap furniture, Mag Pul makes great hand guards, BCM pistol grips fit my hand better than stock.

If you've bought an AR that might be used as anything but a range toy or game gun, stop at furniture changes. Use the money you save to buy ammunition and quality mags. Brownell's makes mags for the DOD and has sales.

Brownells and Midway USA are well known. TNTE Sales. Retro Rifles. DelTon and Bear Creek.

Amazon also carries AR stuff.

Retro Rifles has nose dived bad.

I've used these places in the last couple years. A lot of the time for retro parts.

PSA, Primary Arms ,Luth AR, Wing Tactical, Rock River Arms, DSArms, M&A Parts, AR15Discounts.com, and DoubleStar Corp.

For bolt carrier groups: Tool Craft at Palmetto State Armory.

For a match grade 3 lb pull cassette trigger: Palmetto State Armory, don't be put off by the price, they are an excellent upgrade, very easy to install, and every bit as good as those costing several times it's price.

Just a moment...
