Best small s&w auto for ccw

I like the old and true 3913. I've posted it before, but the photo may help you regarding the style and size. It's a single stack 8 round magazine. Unfortunately, it can be hard to find.

+1, but mine is not as shiny. I am going to try my 6946 as soon as I find a holster.

The 3913 is hard to beat. I have it on right now!

I would have to agree with the opinions of the 3913 owners. I actually have a 3914, which is the same in blue. It was purchased from the LAPD store some 15 plus years ago. I went there to purchase another gun they had on hold for me, saw this one, and left with both (can't do that today in California).

After using it informally for a year or so, I became so enamored with it, it became my primary CCW carry piece. I later purchased a new 4040 for the caliber advantage, but continue to use the 3914 for CCW due to ease of fire, reliability, accuracy, and, bottom line.... I just shoot it better. SS construction would be better if you have a choice, IMO.

Others listed are excellent choices, but I must refrain from comment in that I have no experience with them.

I find my CS9 easier to carry than my 3913 was.

Also look at the M&P9c - very nice little pistol.

I carry a 3913 as my primary CCW as I like the proprietary safety on it. I have had a M&P9c; it was reliable, easy to pack, and carried more rounds, but for me, it wasn't as good as the 3913. IMO, the 3913 is the right combination of size, capacity, and caliber for CCW.

I am looking to buy a S&W auto and I was wondering if someone could help with which one to buy. I am wanting a 9mm or 40 cal. in the smallest and lightest auto available. I have seen the CS9 and it looks like it may be close the what I want but I don't know what else S&W has offered in the past. It will be for CCW I now carry mainly the 340PD. Any help would be appreciated. The only auto I own is the model 41 and I have always had revolvers.

Theer are a number of S&W semi-autos which will fill the bill for a nromal concealed carry pistol. I carruied a Glock 36 in 45 ACP but found that I could not reliably conceal it. I switched to a S&W 642 in a pocket holster and then to a Kahr PM-9 in a pocket holster. I was able to truly conceal these two handguns.

I would suggest the chiefs special dao in 9mm if your a revolver type. I have carried mine as my off duty for the sheriff's dept. for the last four years. Reliability is number 1. I might be selling mine soon as I am changing to another dept and they carry another weapon so if your not in a hurry shoot me a pm.
