I have a very nice M41 pistol, but would like a small or medium frame 22 carry auto that is similarly accurate and reliable. Also have Buckmark, but it is also larger than I seek. Sig? Ruger? Suggestions appreciated. Looking for nice small accurate reliable auto for hunting jacket coat pocket to deal with porcupines and other critters while bird hunting. Thanks, Sam in MI

I have a Ruger SR22 and a Walther P22. Both nice little firearms.
But my favorite little .22, is a Bersa .22.
It doesn't care for standard velocity or sub sonic ammo but it is quite reliable and accurate
with HV ( CCI Blazer or Mini-Mag ) ammo.
The safety worked a bit rough when I first got it. But a little TLC and polishing took care of that.
The Bersa goes to the range with me more than any other .22 I have.

One of the Ruger SR22 would be a good choice. Good shooters and pretty compact.

Same here, I picked up a SR22 for my then 7 year old daughter to learn to shoot with. It has been a flawless little pistol that is fun to shoot and pretty stinking accurate.

The best out there are the old Colt Woodsman.

Agree, but does the Woodsman meet the "small/medium" objective? The OP said he had a M41 and wanted something smaller; the Woodsman, especially the target models, is not that much smaller than a M41. Wonderful guns though.

The target Woodsman are a bit bulky, mostly because of the grips and long barrel, but the non-target versions with 4” barrels are comparable to a M34 4” revolver in size.

The Walther P22QD is a good choice. Small, lightweight & inexpensive...just have to find the right brand of ammo for the best functioning. I use CCI mini mags and Rem. GB.

If you can find one Sig Trailside is a great little gun.

I can't think of a 32 frame size 22 I didn't try. I didn't do the
cheap imports. Most of them were nice pistols but didn't have
the degree of accuracy I wanted. Only one was a dismal piece
of hi dollar junk, Sig Mosquito. I bought one when first our at
$400. It jammed, lite strikes, and wasn't very accurate. Most
of these pistols were ok at 25', but so is a Berreta 21 Bobcat.
I don't know why American companies never made a quality
22 on 32 frame with adjustable sights. I've not had much
experience with the plasticsb, but have shot several of the
scaled down 1911s and to me they are 25' plinkers.
The OPs specs are for a easy to carry "kit" type auto pistol
can't think of a better one that can be found easy and reasonably
priced.
