Where's the best place in your area for good used guns.

Here in Central Texas (Austin to be exact) a large gun store named McBrides usually has a good supply of used guns and (while there are no really great deals) resonable prices........

Pawn shops are hit and miss --the smaller the pawn shop and the smaller the town the better chance of something cool showing up without a big ---"that's a rare gun" markup.

There are a couple of small locally owned shops that will keep and eye out for a certain gun/category and call if one shows up.

McBrides has been there a long time. They used to "trade" & be able to bargain some, haven't been there recently. Things may have changed. Brocks in Copperas Cove, if they're still in business. Nagel's on San Pedro in San Antonio, another old time business.

American Hunting and Fishing Supply in Salida, Colorado.

"Nagel's on San Pedro in San Antonio, another old time business." I've been in that store. Nice selection and friendly staff. I bought a Marlin 1894 .44 Mag from there.

I have found some really good deals in pawnshops. I have several that call me when they bring out a S&W. Occassionally Gander Mountain won't know what they have and you can slip up on one. Most of the time they put an outrageously high price on something common. Lots of times folks walking the floor at a gunshow will be trying to get rid of an heirloom they know nothing about. If you're a known gun guy people will come to you with some good stuff. Mining estate sales can sometimes be productive.

It's got to be Colfax Guns and Ammo. The absolute best prices around and knowledgeable people behind the counter.

Sir, if I told you, you'd know. ;-p

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

McBrides prices are usually very high, specially when they are at the monthly gun show. They will not budge, I just walk past there table
