Well, is there a better time of year to throw some junk on an auction site than another?

I've got a piece or two I'm just no longer "feeling the love" for and I'd have to make room anyway to get some other various pieces, likely not shooting related.

Anyway, it's about the pursuit, not actually having them anyway, and I guess I'm changing my attitude a bit as I get older.

Naturally, from the end of January through April a lot of people have tax refunds burning a hole in their pocket in normal times. With the economy the way it is, that may be down a bit of late with folks having to spend it on necessities.

The other time might be just before the holidays when some tend to look for Christmas presents for themselves by recommending their loved ones spend the funds on a new firearm for them or in anticipation of receiving some cash for the occasion . . . rarely ever happens to me :(

pre Christmas. I always buy myself a Christmas present and I get what I wanted.

If the pieces are hunting guns, I know for a fact that there is a "Buying Season". It usually happens starting in Mid-August and runs into early January. Sort of coincides with the hunting seasons. If the pieces are range/carry guns I would estimate that they see the same "Bump" in sales during the same time period but don't suffer the same dramatic fall off that hunting gun sales do coming towards the end of the hunting seasons.

I've found that just before hunting season, before Christmas, and tax refund time to be three of the fastest time to sell guns. A media blitz of coverage about some gun control scheme also makes em go in a hurry.

christmas time, i have found, to be full of give-away deals on gunbroker and the like....i think people are needing cash for the holidays....but so are the buyers...i have gotten some great deals around christmas

If the 2012 elections can be considered a good time of year then I would wait. I have a feeling that a dialed in, "Rock-Chukkar" is gonna command top-dollar. No offense to Fred Flinstone.

Ammo is going up which is going to cause speculation on the Why of it all.?????

Fear will drive the market.

I wish it weren't that way but fear will drive people into gun ownership once again. It should not be that way and if everyone would read their constitution they would understand but they don't. Owning guns is a right as an American, the gubment should have no say in it. We should not fear our gubment and we should not have to make steps to protect ourself from it.

If you want top dollar hold off until 2012 and may God help me for saying that, it should not be that way.

By the way people my last post was edited by the local board militia and I got a time/edit reprimand. I considered it just an off-handed comment but I guess I broke all the rules. Sorry..At least now I know where I stand..
And to all the non-right people on the board, I am sorry if I compared your non-resident president to a movie from the 70's that rhymes with Namien.

You really need to bring back the Gorilla Avatar, Lee :D

It just says, " I mean bidness !"

Ignoring politics and holidays, for the last 40 years the time during which handguns have sold best is the time that folks have tax refund dollars to play with.

I welcome any difference of opinion on this.

P.S.
I am grateful that 'someone' is watching to keep these forums among the most civil on the net. Thanks for that.
