The Nikon prostaff xcopes are clear and function well, however they are the bottom product of Nikons lineup of scopes. I have owned several and had no problems with them. I would pass on the BDC feature as this is best suited for centerfire cartridge rifles. I shoot ground sqirrels with my 15-22 and a 100 - 150 yards is the longest shot on small critters you can take, but we sometimes try to stretch that distance with not a lot of success. I have a Leupold 3x9 on mine but I have a mildot crosshair which helps me hold for elevation and windage but its more of a guessing game. Not sure if the target version, but if it has an adjustable objective or side focus with target turrets I would certainly give it a try. You didn't say what the primary use will be, plinking ,target or shooting critters.
