Is Armscor ammo good?

I buy it at Sportsman Warehouse too. I shoot it in my Sig Saur P322. Works great. No problems..600 rounds+

Not here, P322 that absolutely doesn't like Armscor. Works in the G44, FN 502 and numerous rifles, high number of failures, etc. Cheap for a reason.

Smells funny to me too.

.22 WMR works great and decently accurate. Had some .357 mag and that stuff was HOT. Had a few other centerline calibers and all worked fine. The .22 LR worked great in my 10/22 (everything does) but my Smith revolvers, not so much. My High Standard Double-nine devoured it.

Got my SW MP 15-22 last Tuesday. I ran about 200 rds of Federal champion bulk ammo thru it without any problems. Then ran 50 Rds of Armscor SPHV ammo. First round was a flyer, 2nd round was a dud. Then the rest ran without any problems. The Armscor ammo shot a tighter group compared with the Federal.

Understand that rimfire weapons are ammo dependent so you have to try different brands to find what it likes and with 22lr cost off can be widely different. Typically as cost of ammo goes up accuracy improves and even reliability can improve .

I have to say I do not look at a 22lr AR as a firearm I would own so find what works at a level of cost that you like . Our 22lr rifles stock and up graded are moa or less shooters with standard velocity ammo from eley force sk rm and some older federal 711b.

I always use CCI Standard Velocity. Replaced firing pin with aftermarket one. Extractor replaced. Keep the bolt rails and bolt head clean. No problems.

Went to the range last week. Fired around 200 rounds Federal bulk ammo and 150 rounds Armscor High velocity solid point ammo. No problems. I think Smith and Wesson has ironed out the initial issues with the platform.

"I think Smith and Wesson has ironed out the initial issues with the platform." What were the initial issues?

FTEs mostly if we rely on posted videos in the internet. There are users that changed their extractors. Some users tinkered with the geometry of the ejector and reported good results.

I think that some problems with the ejector may be due to inadvertent change inn geometry during barrel cleaning as the ejector is connected to the barrel.

So far, my unit is stock and I haven't done any modifications, even in the MBUS. And there were no issues even when I used bulk ammo and inexpensive Armscor ammo. I nilitially used the high velocity armscor ammo nominally rated at 1246 fps. I've since used the standard velocity rated at 1050 fps.

Years ago, when .22LR disappeared from view, I lucked into an online find of a 5,000 round case of Armscor 36gr HV hollow points. Held me through a long time of plinking while I (and we all) waited for the .22's to return. I still have about 2,200 left, and a half-dozen new .22's to shoot them with. A bit dirty, but accurate enough, and to my memory, no FTF's. And now I have a lot of .22LR of various brands, and the Armscor still holds its own with all of the name brands. My 617 doesn't like it, but it has the tightest chambers of all my .22's. My 10/22's are fine, as are my SA revolvers.

Dirty. It’ll usually go bang every time though. Not my #1 choice.

Last fifty rounds (actually 40 or so) came from a range customer, he couldn’t get it to fire in his P322. I gave him a recommendation and he bought some. He then asked me if I wanted what was left of the Armscor.

I thanked him and ran it through my G44, like Mikey in the cereal commercial of ancient times it’ll eat anything.

This week I just ran around 300 thru my 15-22 Performance Center. Anyone who has had a 15-22 PC knows they shoot supper accurate but are very finicky as to what they will run. Just to be clear I was using Armscor 22LR 40GR High Velocity Solid Point. I've got about 4K rounds thru my 15-22 PC and found it prefers 40GR Round or Solid Nose. It will not shoot HP reliably of any manufacturer. I also have lots of luck with CCI Mini_Mag Target. Again, its 40GR Round Nose. The only down side to the Armscor is that it is dirty. I mean yes, 22LR is a dirty round in general, but DAMN! They are also dirty to the touch, almost sticky.

I too bought a case of 5000 SV from Outdoor Limited. To date, I have shot it in S&W 17, 617, 41 and Colt Trooper with few problems. No dirtier than the various CCI or Federal products I shoot. I experienced an average of 5 FTF per 500 rounds, the majority of which fired when rotated and struck again.

One important note: the brass case is softer than brass in other 22 ammo I use and has been extremely reliable when shooting DA in my 17 and 617 and Colt Trooper. Deeper DA firing pin impressions on case than on CCI and Federal ammo. It has become my go to 22 ammo for DA revolver practice and have purchase more.

I have the 15-22 Performance Center, which is the model most associated with problems. I was running CCI Mini Mag Target for better part of a year. I found an amazing deal on Amscor High Velocity Solid Point 40 Grain. (Not to be confused with Standard Velocity Solid Point 40 Grain) Since I also have a Glock 44 which will eat just about anything you throw at it. I purchased 5K at an amazingly low price about 6 months ago. Between my wife and I (yes we both have a 15-22 PC) We are down to about 600 rounds. Verdict: Tight groups, no failure to feed or Failure to Fire or Stovepipes. Much dirtier than CCI Mini Mag Target. But as one person already what is a little cleaning going to do to you? I will say, I have gotten into the habit of squirting a small squirt of CLP before we start shooting. I break down the guns to parade rest and clean lower/upper. I break down the BCG and run it thru my Ultra Sonic Cleaner after about 1000 rounds. Which is after only a couple trips to the range. Lets face it, all 22LR is dirty.

Back in 2015, when .22 was non-existent on store shelves, Cabelas had an online deal on 5,000 round bricks of Armscor. Just a hair over $150 with tax. Yes - less than $1.50 a box. Seemed steep at the time, but it was all they offered. Nine years later, I still have 35 boxes left. Never had a feed, ejection, or fire problem with any except in my PX-22, which seems to only like high speed CCI and Aguila.

Dirty? Yes. Reliable? Yes. The local Rural King had a couple of hundred 50 round boxes of the HV on sale on their shelves two weeks ago - under $3.00, and WV no longer has sales tax on ammo. I was so tempted to grab 20 boxes, but told myself no - I still have 2,000 bulk rounds of Winchester to use up, and at least 2,000+ each of CCI and Aguila for reserve. Should have bought them anyway.

My range buddy bought some of that ammo . Now we shoot every Tuesday , so we go through a lot of ammo . My buddy usually shoots a lot of 22 , but since I got my 29-3 Silhouette , it's 44mag . We've shot a lot of 22 ammo , and to tell you the truth the Armscor stuff shoots pretty accurately . All I can tell you is my experience with it , and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it . As a matter of fact it was recently on sale and both myself and my buddy bought more of it .

Fortunately, for the time being, there is a plentiful supply of quality 22 LR ammunition available from a variety of manufacturers in the USA and Europe.
In the former category, there is CCI, Federal, and maybe a couple others (Remington on a good day, for example). In the latter category there is Eley, SK, RWS, Lapua and a couple others.

Why purchase poor quality .22 LR ammo from a backwards third world country?
Every purchase I make is, for me, an opportunity to think about where my hard earned dollars are going. It’s good for our country, good for our economy, and, to be honest, it’s good to bring out the best performance from our firearms.

.

I have to say I do not know if armscor 22lr is made in the USA or not But most of there ammo used in the USA is made here in one of 3 different ammo plants in the USA . This includes 22mag ammo also sold under an in house brand - American Quality Ammunition that works well enough in my Henry 24" Frontiersman to make head shots on ground hogs at 150 yards with the help of a 4-14 scope .

For a 22lr rifle , no ar15 want-a-be 22lr I keep some bargain brand 22 ammo around for our daughters or grandkids to shoot for fun on our range . Norma tac-22 is one low priced brand at the time was 2.10 a box but closer to $3.00 a box today .

I also have a few bricks of aguila 22lr lead standard velocity at just under $3.00 a box thats reliable decently accurate for fun shooting .Now this is what you might whine about as mine states its mexican made !!

I mostly shoot German made 22lr standard velocity SK match 22lr and federal 711b .

The 22lr ammo I shoot most often is federal 711B and a brick of this is closer to $45.00 currently or $4.50 a box at our local general store . This ammo is several different 22lr rifles , good enough in 2 for moa groups , or 1" at 100 yards with the lot number I have . Subject to change with a different lot number !!

Better groups size does cost more money so you draw the line for your cost .

Sportsman's Warehouse is running a sale of the Armscor22LR 40gr SVSP ammo. Is this ammo any good for M&P 15-22? I did some online search, and many of the comments are negative. But most of them ran the ammo on other wapons, not M&P 15-22.

Under the heading - Info you may never need to know or care about !

A few years back Armscor Cartridge Inc opened in Victor Montana was opened with Darren Newsom as AMMO & MORE . He owned BVAC and sold BVAC to produce armscor ammo At the A&M building in Victor Mt. Then armcor opened a Navada ammo plant too . I bought a small pile of there 22mag ammo and its been great ammo but with the name American Quality Ammunition on the box from the A&M store . There is still a fair amount of 22mag and 22lr is still available with e american quality ammo name on it .

American Quality Ammunitions is still available today But have no idea if its a ACI made product !!

After reading this tread I checked to see if Darren Newsom is still with the ACI brand and see he also built a new building down the road 1.5 miles with no name on the building but a few bronze animals on front and sells his awn ammo brand - Choice Ammunitions -but no more rime fire ammo . They do load 260 different premium cartridges mainly for hunters and a small amount defensive ammo .

So it looks like Darren Newsom is still the president of ACI in victor mt but also has his own premium ammo company too down the road . The armscor 22lr and 22mag I have shot was from Ammo & More address several years ago and all ran well but they also have a ACI in Parhump Nevada too but under a different president of the Nv company Martin Tuason !! Corn-fusing !

I'm mainly a standard velocity 22lr match ammo guy . Base ammo is Federal 711B for fun and critter control and SK rifle match in a savage mkiibv for smaller group range time or head shots on ground hogs critter & control at or beyond 100 yards , . Both loads come with a oily/waxy lube that does not both me a bit . We have 3-22lr rifles that can shoot ether ammo at and under MOA . Been many years that ether failed to fire first time .
