Just read in the Washington Post online that the Biden administration will be withdrawing Chipman's nomination for ATF leader.
Apparently there were enough Democratic Senators who would not support Biden's nominee.
Momentarily sigh of relief.
The report didn't list a replacement candidate.

Every appointee that I have seen in Senate conformation hearings were radical activist. Not only that they are lying through their teeth when they say they will act Apolitical if confirmed. It’s sickening to watch. Chipman wasn’t run out by conservatives. Democrats that would lose their seats if they voted for Chipman get the credit.
Other appointees that don’t connect with public are slinking through and nothing we can do about it.
Appointed positions that are usually not forced out when new administration comes in are now given choice of resigning or getting fired.
Two Track to the Max. The audacity has no bounds and is all one way.

It's unlikely, because there are few people worse than Chipman, who was one of the Waco killers and, more recently, a paid advocate for gun confiscation.

This nomination has been an important line in the sand, and there are a number of RKBA groups, including the Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation, that have been fighting hard against Chipman, the proud poster boy for jack-booted federal thuggery. Withdrawal of his nomination is a major victory for the cause of freedom, and thus we should look for it to be largely ignored in the mainstream news media. And yes, the administration will certainly nominate another authoritarian gun-grabber for the post, but he or she won't be as bad as Chipman...simply because there probably aren't any others that bad.

The enemies of freedom intended this nomination as a major blow against gun owners, and that blow has been successfully blocked. We should take a moment to savor that fact, even though we know more attempts are coming.

I think it was "political recon by fire" so they could see who and how much blowback would occur. While I'm glad this jackwagon wont make the cut, they'll parade another and another until one gets the nod. Not the time to lift and shift fire. We won this battle, but the war is far from over.
