I was at Greentops Sporting Goods in Richmond, Va. this morning, putting a couple of sale guns on layaway, after doing my business I perused the used rifle rack and came across two stainless steel Rossi "'Puma" lever action carbines, 16" barrels, one in .454 Casul caliber, the other in .480 Ruger, both priced at $399...

The .454 Casull had the top mounted safety, and what looked like "Trueglow" sights.

The .480 Ruger had no top mounted safety, and what looked like a Lyman reciever sight with large apeture.

Both rifles looked like new...

Seemed like values to me, so I figured I'd share the info. They will do phone and internet sales. Here's a link to thier website:

I imagine the recoil of a 5.5 pound rifle chambered in .454 Casull would be brutal, but might be a handy brush hunting gun..

I had one of the .454 Casull Puma carbines while I was stationed in Texas in 2006. I bought it used, albeit very little, and it came with the barrel ported. I'm not sure if that was a factory option or if the previous owner did it. It did pack a punch firing full power loads, although with .45 Colt rounds, it was very pleasant to shoot. I sold it to a friend of mine who just had to have it to hunt hogs and he still loves it.
